Vidal Mexican Candy is a the branding identity for a real-life small candy busi-ness. Shown here are the logo, the web-site, and the candy stand banner the small business decided to use.

The logo is a blue candy wrapper with the business’ name written within. It is a rather simple yet effective logo that the business owner and Ifinally settled upon using.

The website as well is simple yet effective in stating the business’ goal. Because it is just a small business that operates mainly in swap meets, the business owner felt no real need at this moment to create a web site for their business, much less a com-plex website. Because of the kind of clientele that their small candy business serves, I decided to stick with a simple layout that would not only be easy to navigate but would still help costumers decide which candies they would want.

Vidal Mexican Candy

Vidal Mexican Candy is a the branding identity for a real-life small candy busi-ness. Shown here are the various types of stationary I have created for said busi-ness, including (but not limited to) letters, business cards, letterheads, and candy bags.

Of the different Pantone and Web Color swatches and typefaces I showed to the business owner, we settled upon the existing five color swatches shown here.

The two typefaces ultimately chosen to represent the business were the Angency FB Regular and Adine Kirnberg Script Regular typefaces.

SOCkatSOCkat Identity

SOCkat is the brand identity of a fictonal company I created witht the idea of using a cat made out of a sock as the logo.

When socks get old and beat-up, don’t just throw them away and send them to a landfill somewhere! Turn them into a new friend! The SOCkat Company was founded with the idea that love doesn’t have to be new and expensive. With today’s economy, we understand that parents have to save money where ever they can. Most of the time, that means having to forgo buying new toys for their children.

And who can blame them? Toys and dolls can get dirty real easily and aren’t cheap to replace either! SOCkats are made from the same socks that you and me wear everyday, meaning that they’re very easy to clean and durable enough for any child to play with over and over again! And with so many styles and colors to choose from, your SOCkat will have more life in it than any old regular cat!

SOCkatHow I Came To Be...

About the Company...

One day, Annie was fed up with finding a lot of single socks in her drawer and she decided to do something about it! With a pair of scissors, a needle, and some thread, she soon turned those socks into something wonderful: ME! In the next few pages, you will meet a few of my friends that she made too, so come in and see!

Hey, my name’s Fred the Cat! I’m a fun cat that just loves to talk! And how awesome it is that I get to talk about the company!

When Reborn, a fedora-wearing, gun-toting toddler, arrives and says he's come to groom Tsuna for his future as boss of an Italian organized crime family, Tsuna is more than a little skeptical. But Reborn may have the "magic bullet" necessary to turn Tsuna's life around!

Originally, this postage stamp series was to commemorate the jazz era of the 1920s. However, after a bit of thought, I decided against making a postage stamp series about a bygone era that has been overly done countless times before in postage stamp form and, instead, decided to com-memorate something I enjoyed while, at the same time, never saw too much of in anything other than standard Japanese manga.

The characters depicted in the postage stamps include (starting from top left going across) Takeshi Yamamoto, Hayato Goku-dera, Tsunayoshi Sawada, and Kyoya Hibari.

WATER CONSERVATION TIPS

WATER CONSERVATION TIPSHousehold Hints to Conserve Water and Money

WATER CONSERVATION TIPSHousehold Hints to Conserve Water and Money

Why Conserve?Water conservation is the most cost-effective and environmentally sound way to reduce our demand for water. This stretches our supplies farther, and protects places like Mono Lake. For example, the City of Los Angeles has grown by 1 million people since the 1970s, but still uses the same amount of water. The entire U.S. uses less water than it did 25 years ago, even though there are more people! Using less water also puts less pressure on our sewage treatment facilities, and uses less energy for water heating. More California water facts from Friends of the River.

The Water and Energy ConnectionSaving water also saves energy. 6.5% of the energy used in the state of California is for pumping and treating water--in fact, pumping water south (and uphill) in the State Water Project accounts for 2-3% of all the electricity used in the state. And for your personal energy bill, using less hot water saves on water heating. On the flip side, saving energy and using alternative energy saves water--electricity production from fossil fuels and nuclear energy is responsible for 39% of all freshwater withdrawals in the nation.

What Can I Do?There are many effective ways to conserve water in and around your home. Look through this list for ways that will work for you. Many of these tips were gleaned from materials published by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). Indoor savings are based on a family of two adults and one child.

Outside:1. Put a layer of mulch around trees and plants. Chunks of bark, peat moss or gravel slows down evaporation. Saves 750 to 1,500 gallons a month.2. If you have a pool, use a pool cover to cut down on evaporation. It will also keep your pool cleaner and reduce the need to add chemicals. Saves 1,000 gallons a month.3. Water during the cool parts of the day. Early morning is better than dusk since it helps prevent the growth of fungus. Saves 300 gallons.4. Don't water the lawn on windy days. There's too much evaporation. Can waste up to 300 gallons in one watering.5. Cut down watering on cool and overcast days and don't water in the rain. Adjust or deactivate automatic sprinklers. Can save up to 300 gallons each time.6. Set lawn mower blades one notch higher. Longer grass means less evaporation. Saves 500 to 1,500 gallons each month.7. Have an evaporative air conditioner? Direct the water drain line to a flower bed, tree base, or lawn.8. Drive your car onto a lawn to wash it. Rinse water can help water the grass.9. Tell your children not to play with the garden hose. Saves 10 gallons a minute.10. If you allow your children to play in the sprinklers, make sure it's only when you're watering the yard--if it's not too cool at that time of day.

Water Conservation Tips

‘Water Convservation Tips’ is a poster series in water conservation. Each poster showcases money-saving tips on how to use water outside. This poster contains tips abouts watering your car while on the lawn. There is also a water leaflet that can help on giving tips to saving money and water.

Zigbar Candy bars

Zigbar Chocolate candy bars is the brand-ing identity for a fictional candy company. The origin of the ‘Zigbar’ name stems from a lesser villian type character of the same name from the SQUARE-ENIX video game, Kingdom Hearts 2. However, the similarities only go so far as the sounding of the name. SQUARE-ENIX’s version of the name is spelled ‘Xigbar’ instead, with the pronounciation of the ‘X’ being a ‘Z’. Instead of thinking of ‘evil villain’ when I saw the name ‘Xigbar’, I instead thought of it as being some kind of candy bar.

And thus the branding identity ‘Zigbar Chocolate’ was created. Here is the chocolate flavor candy bar in a bigger size.

ARE HUMANS GOING TO BE MERMAIDS OR

REVERSE MERMAIDS THANKS TO GLOBAL WARMING?

The Dangerous Effects of Global Warming

While the message of stopping Global Warming has been spread around far and wide, there are still many people out there that just don’t get it completely.

One of the major complications of increased Global Warming is the melting of the polar ice caps which would eventually result in the increase of sea levels all across the globe. While it would be extreme to say that failure to stop Global Warming would result in the mass flooding of the entire world, this kind of cataclysmic event really ever only seen in movies isn’t completely fiction and is completely pos-sible in the future if nothing is done to prevent the further warming of the Earth’s atmosphere.

While the major reality if such a horrible event were to happen would be the pos-sible mass extinction of a majority of life on Earth as we know it, what if we humans were to be able to survive and evolve to best suit our new environment? Sure, the future prospect of the human race turning into mermaids and mermen don’t appear to be such a bad tradeoff for our current destruction of the globe’s atmosphere but what if we ended up becoming of the reverse of such fanciful creatures?

I don’t know about you but I’d rather not want to live in a world inhabited by half-men and women walking around with the wrong parts sticking out. Kind of gives the phrase “stinky fish breath” a new meaning.

The Ways of Men by Eliot Gregory

At the hour when all Paris takes its APERITIF the "4 z'Arts" became the meeting-place of the painters, poets, and writers of the day. Montmartre gradually replaced the old Latin Quarter; it is there to-day that one must seek for the gayety and humor, the pathos and the makeshifts of Bohemia.

The "4 z'Arts," next to the "Chat Noir," has had the greatest inuence on the taste of our time, - the pleiad of poets that grouped themselves around it in the beginning, dispersing later to form other centres, which, in their turn, were to inuence the minds and moods of thousands.

Founded in 1893 by François Trombert and located at 62 boulevard de Clichy, the Quat'z'Arts continued into the twentieth century the dynamic role of the Montmartre cabaret artistique, which had been initiated by Salis at the Chat Noir. Like the Chat Noir, the Quat'z'Arts provided an "alternative space" where both permanent and temporary exhibitions of works by artists such as Abel Truchet, Jules Grun, Charles Léandre, Guirand de Scévola, Adolphe Willette, Georges Redon, Emile Cohl, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

The Quat'z'Arts also shared the Chat Noir's taste for eclectic interior design inspired by the past. Designed by Henri Pille, the "locale," one of the three rooms of the cabaret, was decorated in a pseudo-gothic, pseudo-Renaissance spirit, again recalling the Chat Noir. The second room, the "salle

de café," was embellished with wood panels, bronze objects and statuettes, including a group of Rabelaisian gures. But the Quat'z'Arts cabaret took the interdisciplinary mixture of the arts, and the fraternal spirit between the artists and the audience, one step further, creating avant-garde collabora-tive performances that surpassed the genres seen at the Chat Noir.

Named "fumistically" after the four disciplines of the Ecole des Beaux Arts architecture, painting, printmaking, and sculpture the Quat'z'Arts served not only as a gathering place for many artists, but also for composers, musicians, performers, poets, illustrators, and even established theater. http://www.nyu.edu/greyart/exhibits/counter/html/body_quatz.html

Bal Des Quatz ArtsThis is a fictional website for a real-life yearly art exhibition which takes place in Paris, France. Strangely enough, there is no actual website for the Bal Des Quatz Arts exhibition despite the fact that it has been a yearly event ever since early 20th century.

This is my take on how their website would look, should the event coordinators decide to put one up (in English, at least). My website layout is modeled after most museum website layouts, with a page containing all of the current exhibits on display and what new exhibits/artists would be appearing in the future. I have also included a calendar of events on the front page to better showcase the event schedule of exhibits, artists, etc. There is also a link on the front page to allow visitors to the website to subscribe to an e-mail newsletter that can keep them up-to-date on the goings-on of the exhibi-tion.
