ISOVISTPROJECT
A. Felipe Calderon
This project experiments on the visual perception and analysis of spaces. using light as measuring medium
Precept: A structure build out of 3” x 5” note cards on an area of 14” x 14” with a height allowance of 18”. The purpose was for the structure to provide creative and interesting spaces which would engage and develop the Isovist concept.Approach: The project, which I dubbed “The Stadium,” creates areas of openness and of enclosure through the manipulation of horizontal and vertical visual thresholds.
A RoofA. Felipe Calderon
Precept: A roof structure that could cover an area of about 1100 sqft. Using wood as primary material and with the support of four columns. The site had a 1:16 slope and experimented cold winds from the NW on winter, SW wind and rain on Fall and a SE summer breeze.Approach: This proposal developed on the basic
Studio IIProfessor: Larry DollUniversity of Texas at Austin. Summer 2009
Precept: “Carve out” spaces from a specific volume to accommodate three randomly selected activities, taking into consideration connectivity between spaces and simplicity of design.
Approach: My proposal envisioned the creation and disposition of spaces based on the intrinsic characteristics of the activities they contained as well as the relationship between them.

Precept: Design and build a model of a bris soleil that modulates light coming into an space. Such space might be considered occupiable
Approach: The proposed bris soleil developed from a series of design ideas that engage light and shadow in a .permanently changing relationship. The final result not only developed this relationship but the visual perception of the bris soleil itself.

Drafting/Modeling
This segment demonstrates acquired and developed drafting skills in manual and computerized methods. Through these works I aspire to showcase my advanced understanding and capabilities for producing technical drawings, observing rules for dimension, sections and elevations.
