MOCKUPS Testing and making functional prototypes was particularly vital to this design. I made several rounds in order to reduce the amount of steps when carrying a bicycle.

FABRICATIONAfter modeling the chair in cad, a CNC mold was made. I glued 5 layers of veneer around the CNC mold, then sanding and trimmed the excess shape. Two pieces, a front and back were made due to the small radius of some of the bends.

understanding the jacket pattern
LIGHTEN THE LOADI measured many different evening bags to see how much room the jacket could take up. In order to understand more about garment construction, I took a part a jacket so I could understand the pattern and understand how I could create a lighter weight jacket.

FUTURE APPLICATIONSCrumple’s intent is to further the discussion of combining the propertes of soft circuit technology and interactive concepts. I believe that using flex sensor techonology with paper or fabric could create something interesting in future soft goods products. I plan to continue exploring further ideas with this concept.

MEET KEVINMy brother Kevin is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, moya moya and is quadrapalegic. Because of his condition, he is unable to take food by mouth so he uses a feeding pump to receive medicine and formula.
The feeding pump is used while on an IV pole or in a feeding pump bag. The accessories to the feeding pump need to be redesigned for a home environment.

SOMETHING FRIENDLY
current feeding pump backpack
Unlike the current pump bag on the market, a children’s backpack feels familiar to parents and their special
needs kids. By adding a dose of personality to the bag, it becomes fun and familiar.
