Porter’s PondWinter in an urban wildlife area
Not far from downtown East Wenatchee lies a peaceful habitat intended for waterfowl and aquatic mammals.
Thankfully, humans are invited too, as long as their presence isn’t too intrusive.
Trees line Porter’s Pond, offering habitat for wildlife.
At pond’s edge, an irrigation ditch trickles all winter long.
Some migrating fowl make the pond a winter home.
Porter’s Pond is located along the Columbia River, where 19th Street (in East Wenatchee)
meets the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail. Parking is available at the Douglas
County building at the foot of 19th Street.
