This unit can transmit stereo audio signal to a BLUETOOTH stereo audioreceiving device (headset, car audio unit, stereo component system, etc.) *.By converting a regular stereo audio signal input (analogue) from theconnected stereo audio source device to digital stereo audio signal andtransmitting it wirelessly, you can enjoy listening to the music of your stereoaudio source device connected to this unit (portable audio player, mobilephone, computer, etc.).
* BLUETOOTH devices to be connected with this unit are required to support A2DP(Advanced Audio Distribution Profile).

3 steps to BLUETOOTH function
In the example below, we explain how to transmit music played on youraudio device connected to this unit and listen to music on a BLUETOOTHstereo audio receiving device (headphone, stereo audio system, etc.).

Notes• If the battery is not used for a long time,
battery may be quickly depleted,however, after a few recharges, batterylife will improve.
• If the life of the built-in rechargeablebattery drops to half the normal length,the battery should be replaced. Consultyour nearest Sony dealer forreplacement of the rechargeable battery.
• Avoid exposure to temperatureextremes, direct sunlight, moisture,sand, dust or mechanical shock. Neverleave in a car parked in the sun.
• Use only the supplied AC poweradaptor. Do not use any other ACpower adaptor.

What is pairing?
BLUETOOTH devices need to be“paired” with each other beforehand.Once BLUETOOTH devices arepaired, there is no need for pairingagain, except in the following cases:• When pairing information is
deleted after repair, etc.• When this unit is paired with 9 or
more devices.This unit can be paired with 8BLUETOOTH devices; if a newdevice is paired after 8 deviceshave been paired, the devicewhose latest connection time isthe oldest among the 8 paireddevices is replaced by the newone.
• When recognition of the unit bythe device to be connected isdeleted.
• When this unit is initialized.All pairing information is deleted.
NotePasscode* of this unit is fixed at “0000.”This unit cannot be paired with aBLUETOOTH receiving device whosePasscode is not “0000.”
* Passcode may be called “Passkey,”“PIN code,” “PIN number,” or“Password.”
Procedures of pairing
1 Place a BLUETOOTHreceiving device within1 m (3 ft) of this unit.
2 Press and hold thePOWER button for 7seconds or more tostandby for pairing whilethe unit is turned off.The indicator (blue) and theindicator (red) start flashingtogether and this unit startssearching the BLUETOOTHreceiving device.
Notes• After about 3 seconds, power is
turned on and the indicator(blue) and indicator (red) flashtogether twice. Keep the buttonpressed without releasing untilboth indicators start flashingtogether, then release the button.This unit enters into pairingmode.
• If pairing is not establishedwithin about 5 minutes, pairingmode will be cancelled and thisunit will turn off. In this case,start over from step 1.

3 Set the BLUETOOTHreceiving device topairing mode.This unit searches theBLUETOOTH receivingdevice automatically, andpairs the device.The unit tries to connect theBLUETOOTH receivingdevice soon after detecting it.When the BLUETOOTHconnection is made properly,the indicator (red) goes offand the indicator (blue) startsflashing more slowly,indicating pairing is completeand pairing information ismemorized on this unit.
Notes• If Passcode input is required on
the BLUETOOTH receivingdevice, input “0000.”
• The message standing for“Pairing complete” appears onthe display of someBLUETOOTH receivingdevices.
• When pairing is complete, someBLUETOOTH devices mayconnect with the unitautomatically.
Tips• To pair with other BLUETOOTH
devices, repeat steps 1 to 3 for eachdevice.
• To delete all pairing information, see“Initializing the unit” (page 20).

Check the following beforeoperating the unit.– Pairing of this unit and the
BLUETOOTH receiving device iscomplete.
– The BLUETOOTH receivingdevice is on standby forconnection.
– The BLUETOOTH receivingdevice supports the receivingmusic function (profile: A2DP).
1 Connect the stereo miniplug of this unit to theheadphone jack of astereo audio sourcedevice.
NoteWhen connecting to a stereo audiosource device, be sure to connectthis unit to the headphone jack, notto the LINE OUT jack.
Listening to music2 Turn on the stereo
audio source device.
3 Press and hold thePOWER button forabout 3 seconds whilethe unit is turned off.The indicator (blue) andindicator (red) flash togethertwice, then the unit is turned on.After the unit is turned on, itconnects to the BLUETOOTHreceiving device automatically.
Notes• Do not press and hold the
POWER button for more than 7seconds, otherwise pairing modeis entered.
• Make sure to turn on only theBLUETOOTH receiving deviceyou want to connect with thisunit. If many BLUETOOTHreceiving devices are turned on,the connection may not be doneas you desire.
• If this unit cannot make theBLUETOOTH connection with apaired device, pair the deviceagain, or try making theBLUETOOTH connection fromthe BLUETOOTH receivingdevice if possible.
Tips• While searching a
BLUETOOTH receiving device,the indicator (blue) keepsflashing.
• If two or more devices are pairedwith this unit, this unit tries toconnect with either of the lasttwo devices recognized before.

4 Start playing on thestereo audio sourcedevice connected to thisunit.
Notes• If sound is distorted, turn down
the volume of the connecteddevice.
• If volume is low or noise occurs,turn up the volume of theconnected device.
• Turn off the bass boost functionor equalizer function. If thesefunctions are on, sound may bedistorted.
Tips• Turn up the volume of the stereo
audio source device as high aspossible to the extent that soundis not distorted, then adjust thevolume on the BLUETOOTHreceiving device to a moderatelevel.
• If this unit is in your bag, theBLUETOOTH connection maydecline. Clip this unit on the bag.
Notes• Even if the BLUETOOTH receiving
device supports AVRCP (Audio VideoRemote Control Profile), this unitcannot perform playback controlfunctions.
• In the following cases, you need tomake the BLUETOOTH connectionagain.– The power of this unit does not turn
on.– The power of the BLUETOOTH
stereo audio receiving device doesnot turn on, or the BLUETOOTHfunction is off.
– The BLUETOOTH function of thisunit or the BLUETOOTH stereoaudio receiving device is in sleepmode.
– The BLUETOOTH connection is notmade.
To stop use
1 Turn off theBLUETOOTH receivingdevice.
2 Press and hold thePOWER button on thisunit for about 3seconds.The indicator (blue) andindicator (red) light uptogether, and the unit turns off.
TipWhen you finish playing music, theBLUETOOTH connection may terminateautomatically, depending on theBLUETOOTH device.

Disposing of the unitFor environmental conservation, be sure to remove the built-in rechargeablebattery from the unit before disposing, and dispose of the batteryappropriately.

On BLUETOOTHcommunication• BLUETOOTH wireless technology
operates within a range of about 10 m(about 30 ft). Maximum communicationrange may vary depending on obstacles(person, metal, wall, etc.) orelectromagnetic environment.
• The following conditions may affect thesensitivity of BLUETOOTHcommunication.– There is an obstacle such as a person,
metal, or wall between this unit andBLUETOOTH device.
– A device using 2.4 GHz frequency,such as a wireless LAN device,cordless telephone, or microwaveoven, is in use near this unit.
• Because BLUETOOTH devices andwireless LAN (IEEE802.11b/g) use thesame frequency, microwaveinterference may occur and resulting incommunication speed deterioration,noise, or invalid connection if this unitis used near a wireless LAN device. Insuch a case, perform the following.– Use this unit at least 10 m (about 30 ft)
away from the wireless LAN device.– If this unit is used within 10 m (about
30 ft) of a wireless LAN device, turnoff the wireless LAN device.
– Install this unit and BLUETOOTHdevice as near to each other aspossible.
• Microwaves emitting from aBLUETOOTH device may affect theoperation of electronic medicaldevices. Turn off this unit and otherBLUETOOTH devices in thefollowing locations, as it may causean accident.– where inflammable gas is present,
in a hospital, train, airplane, or apetrol station
– near automatic doors or a fire alarm• This unit supports security

• We do not take any responsibility forthe leakage of information duringBLUETOOTH communication.
• Connection with all BLUETOOTHdevices cannot be guaranteed.– A device featuring BLUETOOTH
function is required to conform tothe BLUETOOTH standardspecified by BLUETOOTH SIG,and be authenticated.
– Even if the connected deviceconforms to the above mentionedBLUETOOTH standard, somedevices may not be connected orwork correctly, depending on thefeatures or specifications of thedevice.
• Depending on the device to beconnected, it may require some timeto start communication.

Notes on using in a car• Do not attempt to connect this unit, or
to operate this unit, an audio outputdevice or a car radio while driving orwaiting at a traffic signal.
• Make sure this unit and the deviceconnected to this unit are fixed firmlybefore driving to avoid an accident ordamage.
• Route all the cable connected to thisunit properly so that they will notinterfere with your driving or becomeentangled in parts of the car interior(seat, door, etc.).
On the supplied AC poweradaptor• Use the AC power adaptor supplied
with this unit. Do not use any other ACpower adaptor since it may cause theunit to malfunction.
Polarity of the plug
• If you are not going to use this unit fora long time, unplug the AC poweradaptor from the AC outlet. To removethe AC power adaptor from the walloutlet, grasp the adaptor plug itself;never pull the cord.
Others• Do not place the unit in any of the
following locations.– Direct sunlight, near a heater, or other
extremely high-temperature location– Dusty location– Location exposed to large amounts of
vibration– Bathroom or other high-humidity
location– In a car subject to the direct rays of

What is BLUETOOTH technology?
BLUETOOTH wireless technologyis a short-range wireless technologythat enables wireless datacommunication between digitaldevices, such as a computer ordigital camera. BLUETOOTHwireless technology operates withina range of about 10 m (about 30 ft).Connecting two devices asnecessary is common, but somedevices can be connected tomultiple devices at the same time.*You do not need to use a cable forconnection since BLUETOOTHtechnology is a wireless technology,nor is it necessary for the devices toface one another, such is the casewith infrared technology. Forexample, you can use such a devicein a bag or pocket.BLUETOOTH technology is aninternational standard supported bythousands of companies all over theworld, and employed by variouscompanies worldwide.
