1.2 About me:

As a retail designer student from TEKO, I created my portfolio to represent my relevant studies, experiences, which were obtained by these semester studying as an international student in Herning, Denmark. This portfolio aims to evaluate my studies and my gained knowledge and experiences by TEKO. Therefore the main purpose of the portfolio is to get an overall picture of who, and how I am.

1.2.1. Skills and abilities:

Communication: The most important skill is in our life to being able to communicate effectively. Effective communication is more than changing information. It is about show a part of from yourself to the world on the way of your communication due to built strong relationships, and enable to make cleaner decisions.During my studies at TEKO helped me to develop my communication skills. By the Global Communication subject from the first semester, I could improve my skills and learn more about how to behave, and communicate with different kind of people in person, or in a professional relationship. Beside of learning about how to improve our skills, we, as international students have to practice these skills in the real life and have lived through how hard it is sometimes, when you can not explain and express yourself as much as you would like to, then the people will misunderstand you and your personality. After a year, I have acquired those routines, which can help me to verbalize myself.

Interpersonal: Interpersonal skill includes many skills (Listening skills, decision making, working in groups etc.) In this chapter I would emphasize the Problem Solving skill, which could be the most significantskill in our life, living in abroad as a student. With poor problem solving the interpersonal relationships, and businesses fail.I have learned that we always have to try to recognize our problems, andeven if it seems complex at the first sight to solve it, at least it should be dealt. The first what I learned during my studies is to share the problem to halve it. Taking to others about the problem is helping to process it, and can help you see things from a different point of view, opening up more potential solutions. With the communication skills I can issue from myself in order to find a solution.

Flexible: In my opinion, this is a thinking skill that focuses on a person’sability to adapt to new situations, improvise, and shift strategies to meetdifferent types of challenges. The different kind of tasks helped me to practice and improve my flexibility. The essential of the danish education system showed me, how can I thinking in variously, and being more creative.

Page 5: porfolio

Attention to details: As it is easy to get involved in too many project, orassignments at the same time, it could suddenly our attention, and work just falling apart. As TEKO students use to work in groups, that skill was definitely the easiest to be learned.

My personal development either through TEKO and on my personal life in Denmark could be successfully applied to other areas of my life.

2 TEKO experiences

2.1 Visual Merchandising

Visual Merchandising is one of the most influential subject in the 2nd semester. It is about creative and innovative design, although we have topay attention for the rules(Fibonacci numbers, Golden Section, pyramids, colors, location of the store etc.) everything what we have learnt. During my previous studies at TEKO, I have gained many experiences, how strongly connected the design and the business. When the business comes into the fashion life, as such as designing a display window, you have to consider to engage and inspire customers, to encourage them to buy more of the product, to increase the sales. This process has to start before they have set foot in the store.

2.2 First semester projects/Biggest influence

As the biggest influence, which I got, I have chosen 2 projects, that taught me a lot about retailing.

3 Brand ID and productdevelopment

The purpose of the project:

• what design is from an aesthetic, functional and commercial point of

view• • the construction and processingmethods within the chosen specialty

Project description:

We were a part of a product team in a large well-known company. (Fashion and Textile companies could not be selected). Company management has after a thorough review and analysis of the company's product portfolio wished to

Page 7: porfolio

strengthen and expand the growth within the company's current business concept. Therefore, management wanted us to develop a new line / new product (s) within a new product segment. The new ideas were displayed in the form of a first finished sample / prototype presented at the next fair. Our product had been worked through, functionally, aesthetically and commercially.

Project Work method:

The project was a team project with 5 - 6 students on different programs within either fashion and furniture lines

Final phase:

The product were presented at an exhibition for the company management and others interested at TEKO.

During the presentation the group was able to substantiate all choices made during the project.

Group number 9. Mercedes

About the Brand:

Mercedes-Benz cares as much aboutmodern models as the vintage ones. When the other automotive brandsgave up on focusing on oldproduction, Mercedes even createdClassic Centers, where theircustomers can renovate their old-school cars. This brand stands forthe best version of everything theyproduce. Their statement is: “The best or nothing”. Extremely good technology, extraordinary design, the best quality of materials and what is most important, luxurious products.

Page 8: porfolio

Our products:

Our goal was for the customers to feel luxurious and special. They can choose from two main styles, which one is more suitable for them. Gloves will be sell in extraordinary distribution stores as a limited edition accessory. We show Mercedes-Benz as a brand, that focus on quality as much as on every other aspectof their company, which makes their products special and everlasting.

Reasons for material

selection

The materials as well ascolours of the product got thedirect inspiration from thecar. All together 4 fabricswere used, 2 on each glove. On the vintage glove we used real leather and the chequered pattern fabric was100% cotton. On the prototype we used faux leather. This however did not havesufficient properties for the glove so we made the end product in real leather. The leather is typical for Mercedes throughout the history of the brand. It is used widely on throughout the whole model selection. The chequered cotton fabric is exactly the same material used on the original seats of the vintage Mercedes cars.

The modern glove 100% wool. The black is 100% polyimide (known also as poly viscouse). Since those materials are warm and soft for the skin. Since the finger part of the gloves is left out, the rest of the glove is made out of warm materials

such as wool. We can find the material from the floor mats of the cars.

3.1.1 Personal work as a retailer:

To create a stand for the exhibition, which will represent our work, and includes the uniqueness of the brand and fits to our products.

As considering our main concept, I have made a modern stand by using black and white. The logo of the Mercedes was the focal point, which was made by my hand without using any template, to emphasize the classic, unique virtue of

Mercedes. That was to most important part of the stand, therefore the logo was in the middle of the stand in order to catches the eyes. According to the size of our product, I decided to create a modern, clear selfs, likewise trying to play with the horizontals. Presenting the importance of the vintage part of the brand, the leather gloves were in a glass box in the center with other vintage material, which aimed to highlight to originality of the vintage.

During the whole process, my challenge was to find the harmonies between the modern design and the vintage as much as the Mercedes has.

Page 10: porfolio

The second part of my work was to make a brochure for the company, to represent our idea, and the products. By the photo shooting with a Mercedes car, we could place our products by their functions and symbolize by the activity.

and entrepreneurial processes. Inother words, processes that result in

inter-professional solutions toconcrete and actual challenges

4.1. Project description:

The innovation project is as practice-based project that will use a problem scenario relevant to the industry as its starting point. The project focuses on the development of inter-professional and innovative competences relevant for cooperation on real life, practice-based cases.

Group number 14. Care2Go

About our start up:

“Care2Go” is a growing start up founded in 2014 in Herning, Denmark by a group of TEKO students from three different specialties, trying to change theway of approaching charity in the world. The main purpose of our startup is to sell customized thermo mugs through online webshop by donating part ofthe profit to certain charity organizations around Denmark. The headquarters will be in Herning dealing with marketing, sales and human resources management. The production of the thermo mugs takes place in China and additional in Denmark. The highest pressure will be placed on design and customer service in this start up. This summary is based on further research of the creativity parameters in order to connect with our customer requirements.

4.1.1 Personal work as a retailer:

Electronic retailing is the only way to sale our goods. The most important e-retailing channel of our start-up is the website.

Me, as retailer, created a website for the start-up, where the costumers could easily find different kind of charity organisations with descriptions, what they could donate. In return for their supports the „munificence” couldfind different style of therms, and they could choose from them, or crest a new, own designed thermo mugs, which is the most suitable for their request.

Link of the website: http://fdoridodo.wix.com/care2go#!home/mainPage

Page 13: porfolio

The purpose of the website is to attract the customers and draws attention to the importance of charity, in order to represent them how essential, and necessary in the 21th century is to donate and help.

The main question of creating the website was:

How could our site and online web shop be good enough to attract the people?

As a retailer student, I had have taken under consideration what is our start up for and how can I create a design which fits the best with the idea, innovative in order to maximise sales. Developing a marketing strategy takes time. I needed to focus on the customers requirements and at the same time paid attention to the charity organisations. Our start up is original and complex, but if the website is simple enough to understand, then it could engage and motivate the customer towards making a purchase.
