It starts with an idea. Someone once said there’s nothing new...only variations of something that already exists. In varying degrees, I believe that.

We never copy products, but we look at things and ask, “what if.....? (What if this stuff lasted longer? Or smelled better? Or wasn’t hazardous?), etc. If some of our “what ifs” come true through research, we might have another product to sell. Then we check to see if we can improve performance, which often leads to new formulations and keeps us on the cutting edge of technology.

For example, there’s a product in every hardware store and carwash that puts a great shine on tires, dashboards, etc. It’s got a famous name, but the shine lasts only a few days. So we developed Boss Gloss, which lasts more than a month! Try it...we think you’ll like it.

Example 2: We bought a leading epoxy garage fl oor coating kit and looked at the directions, which tell you to fi rst fl ood your garage fl oor with water. Flood my garage fl oor? Are you crazy? What happens when water runs under the studs and fl oods my family room and laundry room as well? So we developed a dry system that works better, faster and is tougher, stronger and easier to install...tire and scuff marks come off easily with a damp rag. Use the POR-15® System to

Stop Rust Permanently!POR-15® products are designed to work as a complete system. When used together, they provide you with a coating that not only stops rust, but prevents it from returning. To aid you in your rusty metal project, we’ve included the follow-ing steps to explain various stages in rust prevention. All POR-15® products are available individually, and many are available in money-saving kits geared to your specifi c restoration need. Here is how the system works:

STEP 1 - Degrease & Clean SurfaceClean metal surfaces with water-based Marine CleanTM degreaser/cleaner. Environmentally safe, Marine CleanTM removes dirt, grease, wax and other contaminants that interfere with restoration. See page 6 for more information on Marine CleanTM.

STEP 2 - Neutralize Rust; Etch MetalSpray Metal-ReadyTM on the surface to remove rust or prepare it for POR-15® Rust Preventive Paint. Metal-ReadyTM neutralizes rust, etches metal for better adhesion, and coats it with zinc phosphate for permanent adhesion. See page 7 for more information on Metal-ReadyTM .

STEP 3 - Apply Rust Preventive Coating to SurfaceApply your fi rst coat of POR-15® Rust Preventive Paint. You’ll get an unbelievably tough, hard, fi nish that won’t crack, chip, or peel. It’s so tough you can pound it with a hammer and not damage it! That’s REAL protection! See page 8-11 for more information on POR-15®.

STEP 4 - Topcoat the SurfaceTopcoat your job with Stirling SilverTM or any other POR-15® coating that suits your needs. Stirling SilverTM has a tough medium-gloss silver fi nish. See pages 12-17 for more information on topcoats.

Directions:Step 1: Remove wheels from vehicle. Calipers don’t need to be removed. Don’t remove brake line.

Step 2: Clean surfaces to be painted with POR-15® Caliper Cleaner. Spray on the cleaner and brush out dirt and grime with a small scrub brush and toothbrush. Wear protective gloves and glasses when cleaning your calipers. Read directions on caliper cleaner container before using.

Step 3: Wash cleaned caliper thoroughly with water and dry with clean towel. Now spray on POR-15® Caliper Prep and keep surface wet for 10 minutes. Then wash off caliper prep with water and dry thoroughly.

Step 4: Mask off the area not to be painted. Tape off brake bleeder screw, brake lines, and caliper piston boots.

Step 5: Open the small can of POR-15® Rust Preventive Paint and stir, making sure the contents are thoroughly mixed. Using a foam brush (included in your kit) paint the caliper evenly, making sure the coating is evenly applied but not to the

point where the paint runs. Because this is a rust preventive coating you want to be sure you don’t miss any spots which could rust later if not covered.

Step 6: When your POR-15® coating is just dry to the touch, with slight fi nger-drag remaining, open your can of POR-15® Caliper Paint, stir thoroughly, and apply the fi rst coat in thin but even strokes. When the fi rst coat is dry (3 - 4 hours), apply a second coat to achieve a beautiful ceramic-like fi nish. Congratulations…you should be proud of your work. Step 1: Spray on Marine CleanTM, this will remove any dirt, grease, wax or other materials that could interfere with the restoration.

Step 2: Cut out the cracks, cutting clear down to the metal core, allowing POR Epoxy PuttyTM to completely fi ll the cracks and ensure proper adhesion.

Step 3: Moisten your fi ngers with water and mix the specialized two-part POR Epoxy PuttyTM. Knead, tear, mix and squeeze the putty until thoroughly blended.

Step 4: Press the POR Epoxy PuttyTM into the cracks, then feather-out the edges. The better it is feathered, the less sanding will be required after it dries.

Step 5: Sand between the fi nger grips andon contoured surfaces. Begin with the 100 grit for rough sanding, use the 220, and then the 320 grit paper for fi nish sanding.

Step 6: Slide a threaded rod through the middle of the wheel and secure with washers on each side.

Step 7: Wipe the wheel off with a tack rag, then spray on the primer and let dry.

Step 8: Sand the wheel with the 320 and then the 400 grit wet sand paper. Wipe the wheel down, then spray on the fi nal color.

Before: This fuel tank had small pin hole leaks on the end near the seam.

Step 1: Mix one quart of Marine CleanTM with one quart of hot water. This solution will be used to remove any gum, varnish or sludge from the inside of the tank.

Step 2: Pour in the entire bottle of Metal-Ready TM to dissolve rust, coat the tank with zinc phosphate, and etch the metal for better adhesion of the sealer.

Step 3: Heavily rusted areas require more time. After the tank is clean, drain the tank and rinse thoroughly with water. Let the tank dry.

Step 4: When you are certain that the inside of the tank is totally dry, pour in the entire can of U.S. Standard Fuel Tank Sealer TM

Step 5: After all surfaces have been coated, drain the tank for about an hour to remove excess sealer from the tank.

Step 6: Once repaired, use POR-15 ® Fuel Preservative & Stabilizer to keep your entire fuel system in proper working order and to avoid “stale gas” problems in your future!
