How many pages are devoted to the reviews? What does this suggest?

• There 53 pages that are dedicated to film reviews weather they are independent films or big Hollywood blockbuster. Overall there are 97 pages in the magazine and the Populaire review is somewhere around the middle. This may show that this is an dependant film as it can not afford to be at the front of the magazine.

What do you notice about the general style and layout?

• The style of the layout follows the typical convention of there magazines so it does not stand out very much, they also include their own rating system which is very honest some say it can be harsh on some films.

Layout

• At the top there is normally a picture which has curved edges and it very much relates to the film

• It is shorts followed by the title, director, actors and release date

• Then there is the text which is columns• of three, they at the end there• is the rating system which is out of 5.

Images • The image included in the review is taken out of the film or there is a

separate shoot. This is the image used in the review.

• This is the particular imaged used in the review, which is very colourful which tells us that film has scenes of happiness, the covered eyed creates an enigma as the designer does not want the audience to find out something about the movie just yet or there is a deep secret in the film.

Colours

• The main colour used in this review is pink which tells me what type of audience this film is aimed at. The pink might also of have been used to portray a certain theme

• Normally when we read reviews the writing is in black, the pink writing makes it quit hard for the readers to read it as its luminous and strikes the eye.

Fonts

• The fonts used in this review is Serif and San Serif.• The title is in San Serif which makes it easier to read

and stand out it is also in bold for the audience• The text first starts with a bold Indent letter then the

text carries on in San serif.

• Some words are in italics these are ‘Director’ ‘starring’ and ‘released. And the names are in bold this might of have been done to show the importance of the people.

Structure

There is a basic structure to the film , it first starts of with some historical context of the film. Then on the next paragraph it shows some of the writers opinion about the film, on the next paragraph it goes on about the themes and explores them in detail. Then it tells us about the directors previous work and at the end it sums everything up.

Rating system

• The review includes a rating system out of 5 which rates it in anticipation, enjoyment and retrospect. This is very unique and different to other columnist magazines as none of them feature a ratting system like Little White Lies

How effective do you think the review is.

• I personally believe that review is effective as it very honest and it’s a well respect magazine in the film world, even though its small it still manages to get its message across. The use of images makes it different to other reviews as it try's to communicate its message to the audience in a different way other than the text.

How does the review reflect the magazine?

• The review shows that the magazine is willing to try something new for its audience and they also use a different style of language which is chatty but also formal at the same time. It shows what type of audience the magazine aims for and the type of people who work for the magazine who then sets its image.

How will it be to emulate the style of the review.

• The review is very easy as it has three different sections and is very easy to emulate.

• However it is hard to emulate the language as the style requires a high quality of writing.

• Overall I believe I will be able to create something that is similar and close to the work of Little White Lies
