EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY TO THE SICK & HOMEBOUND

If you, your relative, or neighbor is suffering from the ef-fects of age, illness or infirmity and is physically and gravely indisposed to go to church to receive Communion, please call/text: Zeny Esquivel (818) 705-2890 or Marge Pot-ter (818) 994-7346. These Eucharistic visits by members of St. Catherine Legion of Mary and Eucharistic Ministry may take place in the home, at the hospital bed, or in any institu-tion that provides basic care and day-to-day living arrange-ments to the elderly, the sick and the infirm. The visit in-volves receiving the Blessed Sacrament, sharing in prayer and the word of God.

SHEPHERDS LIKE JESUS Each year this Fourth Sunday of Easter celebrates Jesus the Good Shepherd. Today’s Gospel seems especially timely, for as Christians worldwide suffer persecution like Paul and Barnabas, Jesus promises his sheep enduring, invincible safety: “They shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.” But we who are free to live our faith peacefully sometimes take our membership in Jesus’ flock for granted, wandering astray to seek our own pleasure and prosperity. The simple cross that Pope Francis always wears seems to show us how Jesus responds to that. Francis’s cross features an image of Jesus, who has sought and found a lost sheep, then joyfully set it on his shoulders to carry it gently home. May Good Shepherd Sunday inspire us, so often lost and found ourselves, to assist Jesus in seeking, finding, and gently carrying home our fellow precious lambs. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Sean B. Flanagan was born in Dublin, Ireland on May 11, 1935 and was

pastor of St. Catherine of Siena from 1981 to 2002. During this time,

he made improvements to both the church and school and was instru-

mental in adding the Spanish Masses to St. Catherine. He was also an

advocate of the Farm Workers Labor Movement and marched with Ce-

sar Chavez to whom he provided sanctuary here at the parish. Eternal

rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon

him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through

the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Sean B. Flanagan nació en Dublín, Irlanda, el 11 de mayo de 1935 y fue

pastor de Santa Catalina de Siena desde 1981 hasta 2002. Durante este
