Content of the issue

1. ACADEMICS

A) School re-opened School reopened on 1st January 2019.

B) III Unit Test / Formative Assessment –3 III Unit test for Std. I to IV and Formative Assessment for Std. V, VI and VII was conducted from 2nd to 9th January ‘19

C) Parent Teacher Meeting Parent Teacher Meeting was held on 19-01-2019 (Saturday) for Std. I to VI in their respective classes. Parent Teacher meeting for class VII was organised in the Auditorium. Sri V.V.Bhat , Honorary Secretary, Dr. Hari Bhat, Honorary Joint Secretary, Mrs. Myna Reddy, Principal for the Primary Section, Teachers, Students and Parents were present for the meeting. Sri V.V.Bhat , addressed the gathering and stressed on students’ discipline to be the first priority. He highlighted the developmental activities planned for the future.

2. CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

A)Makara Sankranthi

Makara Sankranthi was celebrated on 17-01-2019

B) Republic Day Celebrations 70th Republic Day was celebrated in Primary School premises. Chief Guest Sri Shankar.S.Bhat, Advocate, unfurled the National Flag and addressed the gathering. He highlighted the Constitutional Morality to protect India’s Sovereignty. A colourful display by the students of classes V to VII and a speech in Kannada were part of the programme.

C)Gita Chanting Competition Shreesh Kulkarni (IV B) has won 1st Prize in Gita chanting conducted by Brahmana

Sangha and 2nd Prize in Gita Gnyaana Yagna organized by Sandipani Gurukula. He has received a trophy and a certificate.

Shashank Barlya ( III ‘B’) has won 2nd prize in Gita Chanting Competition conducted

by Adhyatma Vichar Sangh, Sahakarnagara.

D) Literary Competition

The following Literary Competitions were held for the month. i) Debate in English / Kannada/ Hindi for the classes VI and VII on 17-01-2019. ii) Essay writing in Hindi on 21-01-2019 iii) Annual Quiz on 31-01-2019

3. SPORTS ACTIVITIES

A) Chess Tournament Panchanjanya chess Academy association with Lions Club of Yelahanka and Yelahanka Lions Service trust conducted Chess Tournament. The following children participated and have won the prizes

i) Thejas.K (V ‘B’) 1st Place ii) Thanupriya (VII ‘A’) 1st Place iii) Deekshitha.A.R. (VII ‘A’) 2nd Place iv) Tharun Pranav.R.B. ( V ‘A’) 4th Place

B) Dakshina Kannadigara Sanskruthika Sangha Dakshina Kannadigara Sanskruthika Sangha, Yelahanka conducted games on the occasion of Makara Sankranthi festival. The following children participated in the various games and won the prizes. (i) Sanika (IV ‘A’) 1st place in the ದಡ and lemon and spoon. (ii) Sharika Shetty (V ‘A’ ) 1st Place in passing the ball and 2nd prize in Running Race (iii) Akanksha Hande (IV ‘A’) 2nd place in Balancing the Book.

4. SCOUTS & GUIDES

A) Scouts and Guides a) Investiture ceremony for Scouts & Guides was held on 18-01-19 where in Badges were given to the children.

b) Demo on Organic Manure:- Scouts and Guides children were given a demo on how to make organic manure using Kambha. The demo was done by our Assistant Manager Mr. Jai Shekar Rao.

5.OTHER ACTIVITIES

A) NATIONAL VOTERS’ DAY Children made placards to bring an awareness about voting, on 25-01-2019.
