Always watch your children and never leave them unattended.

Keep Children away from pool drains, pipes and other openings.

Have a phone close by at all times.

If a child is missing, check the pool first.

Share safety instructions with family, friends and neighbors.

These are helpful tips to know when you and your family visit a public

pool or spa:

Know how to perform CPR on children and adults.

Understand how to swim, and always swim with a buddy.

Grasp the basics of life saving so that you can assist in a pool emergency.

By checking to see if public pools and spas are using appropriate water safety practices, you can further assure safety

for you and your family.

Install a fence around the perimeter of the pool and spa of at least four feet in

height.

Use self-closing and self-latching gates.

Ensure all pools and spas have compliant drain covers.

Install door alarms from the building to the pool area.

Maintain pool and spa covers in working order.

Have life-saving equipment such as life rings or reaching poles available for use.

For children, drownings are a preventable cause of death and

injury.

CPSC recommends that you create a pool safety kit to have by your pool.

What should be in a pool safety kit ?

A pair of scissors to cut hair, clothing or a pool cover, if needed.
