A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU ALL

Recipes for your favourite furry friend

Peanut Butter and Banana Cookie

2 cups whole wheat flour or oat flour

¾ cup corn meal

¼ cup oat meal

¼ wheat germ

¼ cup bulghar wheat

¾ cup peanut butter (smooth)

Or crunchy (your choice)

2 ripe bananas

1 egg

¼ cup water

¼ cup milk

Heat oven to 180 degrees. Combine all of the dry ingredients. Add

peanut butter and bananas. Mix well as you can either by hand or by

food processor. Combine the egg with the water and milk and add to

mixture to form a ball. If you need to add more flour to form the ball,

add gradually.

Knead the dough for about 2 minutes and roll out on a floured board.

Cut with medium size bone shaped cookie cutter and place on an

ungreased cookie sheet. Keep re-rolling scraps with new dough until

all is used up.

Bake for about 10 – 15 minutes…..keep an eye on the bottom so they do

not burn. For crunchie cookies, turn off oven and leave door cracked

open.

This recipe makes about 96 cookies. Enjoy!!!

Yum…. yum…….

BRAIN GAMES

Hide and Seek

Have a family member hide, have them call “come” and send the dog to

find them – start out easy and make it more and more difficult day by

day. Play this game in the dark to encourage your dog to use his sense

of smell.

Find Your Toys

Take him out of the room and hide his favourite toy and send him in to

find it…if your dog does not like toys, play “hide the biscuit” instead.

Variation: name his toys – and send him to retrieve them by name.

Can you put out a pile of his favourites and have him retrieve them one

by one, by name?

Hide his Breakfast

Using his nose can be the most tiring activity for your dog. Leave

widely spaced trail of kibble to the hidden bowl … gradually, day by

day, decrease the number of ‘clues’ till your dog is finding it all on his

own.
