PREFACE

The National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research is anautonomous institute established under the Ministry of Human Resource Development,Government of India for improvement of quality of Technical Education in the country ingeneral on the Southern Region in particular.

The faculty form the most valuable resource of the technical education system.With the advances in technology and its adoption by Indian industry occurring at a rapidpace, it has become essential that the technical teachers should develop an aptitude forlife long learning and have an exposure to advances in their field through StaffDevelopment Programmes.

Through the process of need analysis, NITTTR, Chennai has identified andfinalized areas for staff development in consultation with the State Directorates / Boardof Technical Education. This programme brochure gives details of the short termcourses proposed for the benefit of polytechnic teachers of Andhra Pradesh,

Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Puducherry to be organized during2014-15 by NITTTR. A few of the programs are earmarked for national levelparticipation, from teachers of polytechnics all over the country.

The courses cover content updating, particularly in new technologies, use ofinnovative instructional methods and approaches, design and development of learningresources and general management and development of institutions and programmes.The AICTE has recognized the short term training programmes conducted by NITTTRfor consideration for the purpose of movement to higher grades under the Career

Advancement Scheme.

The NITTTR faculty who have developed rich expertise in their areas ofspecialization and who undertake consultancy and research work, contribute in thedesign and conduct of these programmes.

The continuous upgradation of laboratory and instructional facilities assure theparticipants a rewarding learning experience.

It is hoped that the faculty and the management of the polytechnics will comeforward in large numbers to participate in the programmes and derive maximum benefitfrom our common effort towards improving the quality of technical education.

We would like to thank the authorities of State Directorates / Board of TechnicalEducation for their sincere efforts and co-operation in the identification and finalizationof the staff development programmes.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

A. Participants from Government & Aided Polytechnics are eligible for:

a. A Pocket Allowance of Rs.230/-per day

b. Reimbursement of Travel Cost by bus / or train (limited to maximum ofA/C two tier, subject to providing proof of to and fro travel and subject toeligibility according to their post / cadre ).

B. Participants from Self financing Polytechnics and teachers appointedunder Self supporting / financing schemes of aided Polytechnics:

a. No Course fee has to be paid to NITTTR, Chennai. However, they

b. Are not eligible for Pocket Allowance

c. Are not eligible for Travel Allowance

C. For all participants:

a. Admission order will be dispatched only after receiving duly sponsoredapplications.

b. Hostel facilities at NITTTR, Chennai will be provided on payment basis.

c. Family accommodation is NOT available in the Hostel.

D. Target Group for Staff development programmes

For all staff development programmes conducted, the eligible participants are

Assistant Lecturers, Lecturers, Heads of Department and Principals as per

the existing norms of Govt. of India.
