Robert Kubica born December 7, 1984 in Kraków, Poland is the first Polish

racing driver to compete in Formula One. From 2006 he has driven for the BMW Sauber F1 team, promoted from test driver to race driver during 2006. In June 2008, Kubica took his maiden F1 victory in the chaotic Canadian Grand Prix, becoming the 99th driver to win a World Championship race. From the 2010 season, Kubica will be racing for Renault.

Adam Małysz A ski jumper, and the most famous Polish sportsmen of today.

Małysz is known for his spectacular success at the prestige Tournament of Four ski jumps and soon after this in ski flights in Harrahow. Later came the triumphs in Salt Lake City, Spporo, Willingen, Falun, Trondheim well as in Holmenkolen. At the end of the season he set a new record for Poland in Polanica - 218.5 m, and then he received the Crystal Ball for becoming World Champion.

Robert Korzeniowski The best walker in the world, he won 4 gold medals at the Olympics (Atlanta, Sydney and Athens).

Otylia Jedrzejczak is a Polish swimmer, Olympic champion from Athens 2004

(200 metre butterfly). She also silvered there in 400m freestyle and 100m butterfly and broke the world record in the women’s 200m butterfly three times.

As today’s national team cannot boast of great success, the fans focus on single players that are perceived as a proof of football

skills of the Poles. One of such people is a goal keeper Jerzy Dudek who played superbly not only in the country but also outside it, in world famous clubs: FC Liverpool and Real Madrid. At the same time he represented Poland in championships. The fans were also infatuated by the skills of some football

players of Polish origin. One of them was Łukasz Podolski who lives in Germany but does not hide his Polish roots. This appreciation became much harder when Podolski scored 2 goals (for Germany) in the match against Poland during UEFA Euro 2008. Polish media were dominated by the question ‘WHY?’. Eventually great ‘Polish’ player... just in a wrong team.

Euzebiusz „Ebi” Smolarek Polish footballer who is currently

playing for the Polish national football team. He has played forty times for the Polish national football team. Smolarek plays primarily as a striker or winger.

On April 1, 2009, Smolarek scored 4 goals on San Marino. This made him top goal scorer for group three and tied him with Belgium's Wesley Sonck for second highest goal scorer for the European Zone of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualification.
