Polar Covalent Bonds
Polar Covalent Bond
A polar covalent bond is a bond formed when the shared pair of electrons in a covalent bond are not
shared equally.
This is due to different elements having different electronegativities.
CONT.
• Polar bonds happen when ever atoms with large electro-negativity differences connect. The electrons are not shared evenly, they get taken by the anion.
EG: BONDING BETWEEN HYDROGEN AND CHLORINE
REASON
• THE BONDING ELECTRON PAIR WILL BE ATTRACTED MORE TOWARDS ELECTRONEGATIVE CHLORINE ATOM, BECAUSE ELECTRONEGATIVITY OF CHLORINE IS MORE THAN THAT OF HYDROGEN.
• THANK YOU !!!!!!
