Thursday May 7 Flight departs from Chicago O’Hare International Airport to Krakow St. John Paul II Airport. Friday May 8 Arrive in Krakow, Poland. Holy Mass at the Benedictine Abbey, where St. John Paul II liked to go on retreat; with an orientation tour of Krakow and its old town. Welcome Dinner

Saturday May 9 Tour historic town of Krakow and celebrate Holy Mass in the city where Karol Wojtyla reigned as bishop at the young age of 44. Following, we will tour the Main Market Square - one of the largest town squares in Medieval Europe. The square includes a 13th century merchants’ market known as Cloth Hall or in Polish “Sukienica” and the Gothic Church of St. Mary’s, from where the “hejnal” bugler daily heralds the arrival of the midday. Afternoon visit to the Shrine of Divine Mercy. We will learn the role of Saint John Paul II’s work in making the Lord’s Divine Mercy known throughout the whole world.

Sunday May 10 Private guided tour of Jasna Gora Monastery, the most important place of religious worship and pilgrimage site to the Polish people, with the famous Black Madonna. Saint John Paul II held the Black Madonna of Czestochowa dear to his heart, consecrating his life to her.

Monday May 11 Visiting the former Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau - the biggest factory of death in the history of humanity and the silent witness of human tragedy. Transfer to Wadowice - the birthplace of Saint John Paul II. Holy Mass in the Presentation of the Virgin Mary Church, which was the place witnessing this incredible Saint’s First Holy Communion and the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Tuesday May 12 Spending the day in Zakopane, we will be visiting the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima in Krzeptowki. The sanctuary was built in thanksgiving to our Lady for protecting and saving St. John Paul II from the attempt assassination in 1981. Ride a cable car to the top of Mt. Gubalowka, where we will have a scenic view of the great Tatra Mountains. Wednesday May 13 Morning visit of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ludzmierz, known as the Shepherdess of Podhale or in Polish “Gaździna Podhala”. We will enjoy a picturesque raft down the Dunajec River through the Pieniny Gorge on a highlanders’ raft.

Thursday May 14 From Zakopane transfer to Krakow with a stop to the painted town of Zalipie. Behold the historic and beautifully painted homes that this town decorates from inspiration found in nature and local folklore with colorful and unique tradition.

Friday May 15 Morning transfer to Wieliczka; one of the oldest salt mines in Europe (operated since the 13th century). Expolore the impressive underground world of salt lakes, chambers, galleries and unique Salt Works created by many generations of Polish miners.

Saturday May 16 Morning breakfast and departure to John Paul II Krakow-Balice International Airport with a transatlantic flight to Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
