How To Say Goodbye

Your heart rate increases.

Your hands start to get sweaty.

You pace back and forth.

Waiting

Anticipating

Nervous.

He’s leaving you, you have no idea when he’ll be back, or even if he will.

Last night he said everything would be alright

That you can write to each other.

How do you say goodbye when the future is never certain?

How do you tell him exactly how much in love you are?

That ever since the first day you laid eyes upon him

you could hear your heart beating outside your chest.

You see him coming from across the park.

He’s smiles that crooked smile you fell in love with

hands in his two front pockets,

he walks over.

For a moment,

every things alright,

the world slowed down to give you time to think,

to breathe,

your heart rate eases,

your hands are dry,

and you’re standing still.

He stands in front of you with a full smile across those lovely pink lips,

lips you’ve wanted to touch for oh so long.

And right then and there you knew just how to say a proper goodbye,

how to tell someone you love them and you want them back safe,

how to express to someone that you’ve always loved them and that will never change,

how to make your last day together,

the best of your lives.

You kiss him,

you put your hand gently around his neck and pull him in,

he won’t fight it because in your heart you know he wanted that too.

And for that day, your life is perfect,

because your lives together began.

A rebirth,

a reincarnation of your soul happened.

Your hands find each other and your fingers intertwine,

as you walk off into the sunset,

the pain and worry that engulfed you for so long has eased,

just in time to wait for your lips to find each other once again.

Love

Is feeling this way wrong?

feeling, Love?

An intense admiration and longing to be with someone

How you’re willing to do just about anything to get them to look at you.

What do you do when you catch them staring out of the corner of your eye and they

too look star struck?

How your days are equally miserable but as soon as you see each other you can’t get a

smile off your face.

Dirty.

How your love for him feels so wrong it makes you sick.

And if you think about it to long you might just vomit.

Everyone knows how you feel about each other, but no one dare intervene.

It’s already too late.

But what if one day you woke up and knew in your heart and the pitt of your stomach

that this person felt the same.

He starts to get possessive, comfortable, closer to you.

This is when things get difficult,

and one day.

He kissed you.

You’re forced to deny how you feel simply because it,

“isn’t right”

But what if every minute he’s away from you he cries.

He cries because you aren’t with him

He cries because he knows he loves you more than he should.

He screams

“HOW COULD I LET THIS HAPPEN”

“HOW CAN I BE IN LOVE WITH SOMETHING SO SWEET AND SO TENDER BUT IT

BE WRONG”

And with that he cried,

he locked himself in his room to weep.

you locked yourself in yours ,and for once each of you wept,

together,

but not touching.

Breathe

I waited for you to come,

I called your name into the ocean.

I started falling.

I couldn’t catch my breathe but I still yelled.

I wanted to be saved by you,

to feel your arms around my waist,

going against nature and the flow of the currents.

So there I waited,

sinking.

Little did I know that with or without you, I would never take a breath again.

My battle with the ocean was lost.

Your Voice

Is it the sound of your voice that makes me tremble,

or the thought of hearing it.

the way it makes the ground rumble,

working its way up until it reaches the arch of my feet where it traces every vein in

detail.

continues to travel up my legs where I can feel it in my bones,

my knees get weak when your sound hits them.

Once it’s done it feels like someone lit a match inside my stomach,

the voice,

your voice,

it spreads like a wildfire in my chest,

consuming,

breaking,

feeding on my love for you.

It grows inside of me and when it does my love grows too.

But I know that there will be a point when your voice will consume me.

When it will be too much for my heart to handle and it will take over.

A place where my weakness will be nothing but a simple hello, then the fire starts.

This fire will be too much for me to handle in the future, I cannot let you burn me

forever.

But if you have this affect on me,

do I burn you?, will I consume you?

Or should I turn around and put out the flames, before I become trapped inside them.

I Don’t Know Just Where You’ll Go

“Doesn’t it scare you?”

“Not knowing where your gonna be?”

It scares me.

Not knowing where you’ll go.

-

I know the ocean tides will meet the shore.

That the Earth will spin and the sun goes down.

But I don’t know just where you’ll go.

I know you’ll leave and go someplace dangerous.

That the pain for me will be unbearable and the thought of you gone I won’t stand.

But I don’t know where that place is.

-

I know that when your out there in the rain I’ll be your helmet.

I’ll watch each rain drop fall from the sky, then ooze off my glistening green skin.

When your out on the front line I’ll be your gun.

Page 9: Poetry Collection

Shooting those who try to hurt you and separate us.

I’ll bring you courage and strength to attack the unknown with force.

To fight back.

To come home to me.

-

But then again, I don’t know just where it is your going.

But I do know that I’m always there.

Every drill you run, every mile you walk, I’m by your side.

So I now refuse to keep asking where you’ll go, But instead I’ll make it we.

-

“Doesn’t it scare you?”

”Not knowing where your gonna be?”

It scares me.

After all, I don’t know just where we‘ll be
