8. Adjust the tone according toyour preferences.Turning the tonecontrol fully clock-wise boosts the highfrequency gain by11 dB at 5 kHz. Turn-ing the tone controlfully counterclock-wise boosts the lowfrequency response.

LISTENING IN CONVERSATIONS

The POCKETALKER® ULTRA picks upsounds and boosts them accord-ing to the volume you’ve set. Forbest results, place or hold thePOCKETALKER® ULTRA’s micro-phone as close as possible to theperson who is speaking.

SEATED

Many users set the POCKETALKER® ULTRA on a table ifthey’re in a restaurant or smallgroup situation. Laying the POCKETALKER® ULTRA flat on thetable surface provides superiorpickup to standing the POCKETALKER® ULTRA upright.

Many users use the POCKETALKER® ULTRA Belt Clip andattach it to their belt, pocket, orskirt.

For conversations in the car, youcan use the optional microphoneextension cord (WCA 007) andoptional Lapel Clip (CLP 014) toattach the mic to the shirt orblouse of your fellow rider.

TV LISTENING

The optional TV Listening Kitincludes a 12 foot cord (WCA 007)to extend the POCKETALKER® ULTRAmicrophone. To use the POCKETALKER® ULTRA for TV listening:

1. Unplug the microphone fromthe top of the unit and plug itinto the extension cord. Arrangethe cord to reach the loudspeak-er of the TV and plug the otherend into the POCKETALKER® ULTRA.

2. Attach one of the self-adhe-sive plastic clips to the TV, nearthe loudspeaker, as shown inthe illustration.

USING A NECKLOOP

Williams Sound’s optional neck-loop telecoil couplers magneti-cally couple the audio outputfrom the POCKETALKER® ULTRA intoa hearing aid equipped with atelephone coil. NOTE: The Neckloop (NKL 001)works only with hearing aidsequipped with a telephone coil(T–Switch).

HOW TO USE THE NECKLOOP

1. Place the neckloop over yourhead and around your neck.

2. Slide the bead upwards to acomfortable position. This helpskeep the neckloop in optimalposition for coupling with yourhearing aid.

3. Plug the neckloop into the ear-phone jack on the POCKETALKER® ULTRA.

4. Turn the POCKETALKER® ULTRAon and set the volume control to“5”, or about half of full volume.

5. Turn the switch on your hear-ing aid to the “T” position andadjust the volume for comfortablelistening.

6. If the sound is weak,increase the volume on thePOCKETALKER® ULTRA, then onyour hearing aid.

HINTS & TIPS

The POCKETALKER® ULTRA hasbeen designed to be as easy touse as possible. However, if youhave trouble, check the following:

1. Make sure the microphone isplugged into the “MIC” jack andthe earphone or headphone isplugged into the “EARPHONE” jack.

2. Make sure the batteries arenot depleted and have beeninserted correctly into the batterycompartment.

3. If rechargeable, make surethe batteries are sufficientlycharged.

4. If you experience a howlingor squealing sound, this is calledfeedback. Depending on theearphone or headphone used,you can sometimes get feedbackwhen the volume control is

turned higher than 3 or 31⁄2.

To eliminate feedback, turn downthe volume control or move themicrophone further away fromthe earphone or headphone.

Also, try turning the Tone Controldown (or counterclockwise) toreduce the high frequency.

5. The POCKETALKER® ULTRA ear-phone jack is a mono jack,designed for mono earphonesand headphones. If you usestereo earphones or headphoneswith the POCKETALKER® ULTRA,only one side of the headphoneswill work.

CONSEJOS Y SUGERENCIAS

El POCKETALKER® ULTRA estádiseñado para que su uso sea lomás fácil posible. Sin embargo, sitiene algún problema, revise lossiguientes puntos:

1. Asegúrese de que el micrófonoesté enchufado en la conexión“MIC” y el auricular (con o sindiadema) está enchufado en laconexión “EARPHONE”.

2. Asegúrese de que las pilas noestén descargadas y de que están correctamente insertadas en elcompartimento de las pilas.

3. Si son pilas recargables,asegúrese de que esténsuficientemente cargadas.

4. Si oye pitidos o chirridos,significa que se está produciendoun efecto de realimentación.Dependiendo del tipo deauriculares que se usen, enocasiones se puede producirrealimentación cuando el control

del volumen está ajustado a unnivel superior a 3 ó 3,5.

Para eliminar la realimentación,baje el volumen o separe el micrófono del auricular.

Asimismo, trate de bajar el nivel delcontrol del volumen (gírelo ensentido antihorario) para reducir la frecuencia alta.

5. La conexión para el auriculardel POCKETALKER® ULTRA es de tipomonoaural “mono” y está diseñadapara auriculares (con o sindiadema) también monoaurales. Siutiliza auriculares estereofónicoscon el POCKETALKER® ULTRA sólofuncionará uno de los lados de losauriculares.
