On 22th April class II A took part in biology classes at the University. The subject of this project was isolating DNA from kiwi fruit.
Introduction
When we came into the lab we were greeted by a lecturer. Then we put our aprons on and the scientist told us about laboratory equipment which we used.
In the lab
Laboratory equipment which we used
Vortex Separator Electronic pipette
Next, the teacher told us how to use GENOMIC MINI AX TISSUE - special set to isolate DNA.
In the lab
Column
Receiving tube
Ion exchange membrane binding DNA
The flow of liquid under the influence of gravity and capillarity
DNA isolation consisted of passing through the membrane reagents and sample organic with a special fluid and mixing in special separator.
In the lab
At the end we had to remove water and residual liquids from the sample.
In the lab
We could take ready samples to houses- (samples were ready to watch next day).
In the lab
After classes
The process of DNA isolation is very arduous, but students were very pleased with these classes, because they could use the professional laboratory equipment.
