Where has the summer gone? It’s hard to believe it’s time for the kids to go back to school. With the return to school comes a signal that it’s time for another year of Awana as well as a busy fall. God is blessing us with growth, new families, new ba-bies and many new possibilities for ministry. While we praise him for these blessings, it brings a great need for workers in the Children’s Ministry area. Here are a few.

Sunday Mornings: Children’s Church: (age 4-2nd grade): There is always the need for more couples, & individuals to help lead and teach Children’s Church. Not sure what this involves? I’d be more than happy to talk with you about it. Nursery and 2 and 3’s: We greatly need of willing bodies to love on our babies. If you are willing to give an hour of your time to allow the parents of these young ones to worship, see me. Sunday Evenings: Nursery: Again, there is need for willing bodies to keep our little ones (age 3 & under) in the nursery. Children age 4 & up will participate in Life U Classes, Preschool Choir, Children’s Choir & Stick Team. Weds. Evenings: Nursery: Again, there is need for willing bodies to keep our little ones (under 2 yrs) in the nursery. Being unable to offer this area of childcare, limits those who can work with the Awana kids and those who can attend Adult Bible study.

If you have questions about any of these areas or would like to volunteer, please see me or email me at [email protected]. I’ve highlighted the greatest needs. Please pray about becoming involved in these areas? You don’t have to have children to work in the nursery. Your children can be grown & gone and you can work in the nursery. All you need is some of His grace, His patience, and His love. He’ll take care of the rest. I covet your prayers in the next couple of months. We continue to strive to make the S.S. hour the best it can be as well as Children’s Church. We can only be as suc-cessful in these endeavors as we allow ourselves to be by joining together for the good! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Wednesday, August 27th will be the first club night of Awana to kick off a new year!!! Please pray with us that this will be the year we reach more families for Jesus. We will start promptly at 6:45pm and end at 8:15pm. Plan now to attend! You won’t want to miss this year of excitement and new adventures! How about volunteering as a listener? I promise you’ll be blessed!

Just as a reminder, the Awana groups are divided into the following groups: PUGGLES: Boys & Girls age 2 Or one year prior to beginning Cubbies CUBBIES: Boys & Girls age 3 & 4 Or 2 yrs prior to Kindergarten (Must be 3 by Oct. 1 & completely potty trained. This in in line with the Boone County School age requirement to start kindergarten.) SPARKS: Boys and Girls in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades TRUTH & TRAINING: Boys and Girls in 3rd through 5th grades.

AWANA WORKERS MEETING This is a great training time for ALL workers, new & experienced. Tim Welcher, Kentucky AWANA Missionary, will be coming to complete our training and remind us of the importance of this great ministry. Mark your calendar for Thursday, August 21 from 6—9:00pm. Light refreshments will be served.

AWANA LISTENER TRAINING Wednesday, August 20th, all listeners will join together for a time of training. We will meet at 7:00pm and finish by 8:00pm if not before. This training is for all listeners for Sparks and T & T groups.

PAGE 2 THE TRIUMPH A PLACE OF HOPE!

Dear Friends, Thanks be to God for the great response we had for AWANA ministry volunteers this year! While this min-istry has been a blessing to our children and families since 1998, we've recently struggled to get the number of volunteers we truly need to make this ministry all it can be. The number of volunteers we asked God to give us was over and above what we've had in years past. Thankfully He touched hearts and provided for our needs! I'm SO thankful that our children will continue to be able to hide God's Word in their heart, because of your sacri-fice and service to our children. We still need a few to help with our Puggles and Cubbies group, so pray about whether God may be calling you to give of your time and talent to our children. I'm blessed to be a part of church that loves our children and agrees that they are not just the church of tomorrow, but the church of today!

See You Sunday,

Pastor Kevin

The needs in Africa are many but UBC can help. A team is going to Africa in the fall and have re-quested donations of

SOAP. In Africa soap is a high priced luxury. It is NOT viewed as a necessity like food or water, so it is not purchased or used by the poor. The teams give soap each time they go to Malawi, and would like to do so again. You can see the joy on the faces of each person who receives a bar of soap, even the wealthy appreciate the gift of soap.

We would like to give a bar of soap to as many people as possi-ble (at least hotel sized) but our “soap stock pile” is depleted.

Please consider donating bars of soap for this cause. If you have a collection of hotel soap please consider donating it or ANY bar of soap, no matter the size.

Thank you, in advance, for your heart-felt gifts.

Summer is coming to a close in a whirlwind. I want to thank all of those that have worked with our students through chaperoning camp, hosting fellowship nights, driving to Southside, and any-thing I may be forgetting. You are a blessing to me and our stu-dents. Thank you so much!

Upcoming events in August: 8/3 - Camp Report Night at 6 PM 8/5 - Final Middle School Mayhem 8/6 - Final Fellowship night at UBC 8/7 - Worship Staff Training, may extend to the 8th 8/13 - First Day of school for Boone Co. Schools 8/17 - Promotion Sunday 8/20 - Regular Wednesday Night Activities Return

Middle School Mayhem For our final Middle School Mayhem day all students need to bring clothes they don’t mind getting wet and a change of clothes. We will finish by talking about the Living Water and God’s cleansing power.

Promotion Sunday On this day we officially begin another year. So those that are beginning 6th grade will come to the youth room for Sunday School and those that just graduated will move to the College and Career class up by Ms. Pat’s Office. Remember that on this day students will fill out our annual information cards and have their picture taken.

Thanks again to all that helped with our student ministry this summer. It has been so great to see the Lord working in the lives of students, pointing them to Himself, and uniting them to further His Kingdom. Please be in prayer for our students as they begin school this month. Pray that God would give them courage to stand strong on His Word and that they would take refuge in Him during times of trouble instead of people (Psalm 118:8). In Christ, Allen
