Saunders EC and SSC Pneumatic Actuators facilitate remote operation ofthe valve, as an integral part of a control system. Both are compactpiston style actuators with excellent chemical and temperature re s i s t a n c e .
The versatile and robust design derived from the use of high technologymaterials of construction, results in an actuator suitable for a wide rangeof process industry applications.

With the same flexibility asthe EC Actuator, the SSChas been manufacture dwith a 316C12 stainlesssteel investment casthousing. Suitable for bothaseptic and industrialapplications the SSC hasexcellent resistance toboth chemical and steam duties.
Size range DN8 – DN50
All three operationmodes, double acting,spring to close andspring to open featurethe same physicaldimensions for a givenvalve size. This pro v i d e su n i f o rm compactenvelope dimensions andoutstanding economicbenefits particularly forspring re t u rn failsafeactuation.

EVspring close
The EV/ES actuator offers efficient mechanical/pneumatic control ofthe diaphragm, allowing remote and automated operation.
Saunders EV/ES actuators are designed with close coupled bonnetassemblies and have complete flexibility of perf o rmance. Several diff e re n tactuator models may be provided for each valve size to suit diff e rent lineand operating pre s s u res. The range allows valve closure against themaximum valve working pre s s u res and can be successfully used formodulating control duties in addition to more normal isolation functions.
Failsafe closing actuators are fully adjustable, i.e. spring compression canbe externally adjusted to provide optimum diaphragm forces and hencep rovide extremely long diaphragm life in serv i c e .
Many accessory options are available which include solenoid valves,remote indication devices (switches or sensors) to suit enviro n m e n t a lconditions such as hazardous services. Limit stops and positioners andmany other devices may be off e red to allow usage within part i c u l a rc o n t rol systems. EV/ES actuators are provided with a tough polyester coating which gives maximum durability, even in exposed locations.
Saunders diaphragm valves off e rexcellent control capabilities within ab road range of pre s s u re, flow or levelc o n t rol applications.
Rangeability (ratio of maximum flow vs. minimumc o n t rol flow) of Saunders weir type valves is 35:1extending beyond the range of most pro c e s sand service control systems.
The positive shut-off characteristics of the valvecan, in many instances, eliminate the need forindependent block valves, a major component inthe piping system cost.
The inherent flow characteristics illustratedshows linearity up to 60% of travel (80% of flow).
The chart illustrates installed characteristicsa ffected by the dynamic friction loss for theremainder of the piping system. Equal %characteristics can be obtained through the useof characterised positioners.
