    Several large macrocarpatrees fell over

We were absent at the time, but dohave an emergency kit ready in caseof power and water outages. We hadneighbours and family memberskeeping an eye on the property inour absence, and our street Taupo

Crescent has a residents emailgroup, that enabled us to keep intouch even though we were away

Nothing in particular as weweren't there. Nothing in particular

    (a) We lost a couple ofconcrete (Monier) ridge tiles. No consequent damage. (b)

A reasonably sized gum treeblew over and narrowlymissed our garden shed.

Several other shrubs didn'tfare too well either.

We had plenty of battery poweredLED lights for inside the house. InWellington you get and live with thewind so we were pretty much OK.

The direction - South East - was a bitunusual.

More inconvenienced with theloss of power and the worry of

not being able to see or doanything.

In the aftermath we could haveused a schedule of persons &trades people that we could callto help put things right. e.g. Folk

with chainsaw expertise to clearfallen trees.

heavy glass panel blownright OUT of the balustradearound my balcony; ANDconcrete roof tiles lifted/displaced by the storm

The balustrade met all engineer'sdesign parameters and all PCCrequirements; the concrete roof hasbeen ON since 1953.

It exceeded the violence ofmost previous storms and thusexceeded anticipatedrequirements Unsure ??

3mtr tree down Fence nowon a lean

Candles/matches/torches/emergencyradio was most helpful Not at all

Aftermath - maybe knowing if I

could help in any way. I waslucky enough to have a friendwho dealt with the tree. Butotherwise I don't know what Iwould have done.

Trees down. Power cut for 3days

Needed alternative for heating. Hadeverything else we needed

No time to put outdoors stuff

away. No gas in BBQ. No wayof heating home as we haveducted air that relays on power

Power company let people down.No communication from them. Most of them don't have 24/7service centres. So we had noidea when power would come

back on, so we could not plan ongoing somewhere else that waswarm.

trees down/powercut/walkway panels blownout. Large slip blockingroad. phone out.

have 2 x emergency backpacks. Tooheavy to carry. bottled water storedand flashlight handy. Battery radiohandy. no mobile phone.

Communication from PCC statingestimated time to fix roadblockages and damage afterstorm.

Flooding - guttering onMotuhara Rd must have gotblocked in the night and ourgarage filled up with waterflooding down into our livingarea through all the lightfittings.

A large potted plant on our deck wastried to our balcony and outdoorfurniture was achored down.

With flooding at street level intoour garage which then poureddown into the house.

    Nothing would really have helpedus.
