FOLDING
The use of research techniques is important for health personnel, because through these, you can make a deeper study of the disease that the patient has, besides having the ability to develop techniques that improve the quality of the patient in the future.
“Identifying Slot Species at a getenic
level”(January 6th. 2012)
• Identifying species, separating out closely related species and managing each type on its own, is an important part of any animal management system.
Described a low-cost easy-to-use molecular tool for species identification that will help to improve management of two-toed sloth species.
•The study describes a PCR-based technique that allows species identification of two-toed sloths without requiring sequencing, by using a mitochondrial marker (COI gene) and restriction enzyme assay.
•The study also reports intra- and inter-specific patterns of chromosome variation in captive two-toed sloths.
•The chromosome number in Hoffman's two-toed sloths showed low variation ranging only between 50 and 51. In contrast, Linnaeus's two-toed sloths appeared to vary widely, with diploid numbers ranging from 53 to 67, suggesting distinct
STUDENT CONCEPT•Is very important to
study the disease at the molecular approach, because many of these can be treated in time, also to being recognized members of a family and be differentiated from other patlogias, in order to improve the quality of patient's life.
“How Accurate are rapid flu test?”
(February 27th. 2012)
•Early flu diagnosis is key for both optimal patient care and infection control. While viral culture and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests have been the gold-standards for detecting influenza.
•The study showed three key findings:
•RIDTs (rapid influenza diagnostic tests) can be used to confirm the flu, but not to rule it out.
•Test accuracy is higher in children than it is in adults
•RIDTs are better at detecting the more common influenza A virus than they are at detecting influenza B.
•It would have to be shown in clinical practice, but the routine use of these tests could mean significant improvements in patient care, especially children.
STUDENT CONCEPT
•To appear more frequently the flu in the population, I consider it very important to develop techniques that allow the rapid and timely identification of these, for the welfare of the patient and to have greater flexibility in the delivery of service
MEDICAL UTILITIES
•Genome studies brings a greater knowledge about the body's functions , a deep exploration of those events brings a better comprehension of the pathologies.
•Researchers could develop new less aggressive alternatives of treatment based on the molecular modification of the genome in a future.
•Molecular biology tools to the medical personnel about the conformation of the human being, to they can create different mechanisms to treat diseases and discovery genetic disorders.
•Develop of new treatments could be more cost-effective.
•The knowledge about genetic diseases grants to the medic a useful tool to give a more accurate diagnosis.
