Certificate of Recognition for Dancers

It has recently come to my attention that at least one requested Certificate of Recognition has not reached the

dancer or club who requested it. If you, or your club representative (on your behalf) has applied for a Certificate during the last 12 months, and have not received it, please contact me immediately. I apologise if this is the case and will have a Certificate issued asap. These Certificates are still available to all Queensland dancers upon application. Please see the form in this Bugle. TO THE QCA, CLUBS AND MEMBERS A BIG THANK YOU

Our thanks and appreciation to the QCA Callers, Clubs and Dancers who attended the

QCA Gala and Society Sunshine State Round-Up held at Buderim on 17/9/16.

To Suncoasters Square Dance Club Inc. our thanks and appreciation for being the Host

Club for this Event. It was well organized and run by all the Club’s team of workers.

We all enjoyed the afternoon, BBQ and evening Dance.

The next Society function is the Christmas Party to be held on Saturday 26th November

2016, hosted by Logan City Square Dance Club Inc., venue White’s Hill State College

Camp Hill.

Don’t forget to pre-book your tickets for the Christmas Dinner.

CAIRNS CITY SQUARE DANCE CLUB

Our Club no sooner had all its members return to Cairns when Ron and Beryl travelled

to Toowoomba’s Festival of Flowers, Ian and Jenny attended a family reunion in Bris-

bane and Dian and Henry took a short cruise to Papua New Guinea.

Therefore with our 3 programmers missing we have missed one Friday night but man-

aged to dance on the remainder.

We have welcomed 2 new dancers in Marilyn and Andrea and hope they continue to

come each week.

At our Annual General Meeting recently there was no change in positions with Ron

remaining President and Henry Vice President. Bev who has done Secretary/Treasurer

positions for many years wished to retire. However she has agreed to do the bookkeeping

position and other members have taken over her other duties. I will continue on as

Publicity Officer.

Yvonne has just returned from house sitting in Townsville whilst her daughter and grand-

daughter travelled to Brisbane. From there Bianca returned to Switzerland to study

music.

That is all our news for this month until my next report.

CANE COUNTRY SQUARES

Our new Learner's Class is well under way and we are all having fun. There are some very keen dancers being helped by our "Angels" on a separate night to Club night. We are trial-ling the "Club 50 Initiative" and hope to have the new dancers ready to join us for our free Christmas Dance and break-up to follow soon after. Our last learner's group has now com-pleted Mainstream movements. We will have Guest Caller/Cuer Nev & Bev McLaughlin with us in Bundaberg on weekend

of 29/30th October. All dancers are welcome to join us for a good weekend of square and

round dancing. We hope to see some of you there.

HAPPY TRAILS SQUARE DANCE GROUP

SUNCOASTERS SQUARE DANCE CLUB

Suncoasters hosted the annual QCA Gala Dance and Sunshine State Round Up on 17

September, 2016 and we were very happy to have eight squares of dancers in attend-

ance (many from Brisbane and surrounds). Gary was again the organizer of this event

and we enjoyed the calling of about six different callers (one being a twelve year old

girl who did extremely well). We had two sessions of dancing, one in the afternoon

and the other at night. We very much enjoyed having so many visitors and there was a

BBQ dinner put on by our club. There was also a very large supper at the end and the

efforts of our members is much appreciated. Pam Edwards

HERVEY BAY SQUARE DANCE CLUB Hi Everyone, Busy, busy in Hervey Bay as springtime is here and we are out and about celebrating a wonderful time of the year. Firstly, our N.Z. friends have just purchased a lovely home in the bay so of course we had to have a House Warming party. Lots of nice food and com-pany. We wish them well in their chosen country.

Next was our caller night with Matthew Mills. What a great night it turned out to be. Flowers and palm leaves everywhere, colourful clothes and very happy dancing. Matthew managed very well without his 'offsider'. She had a prior engagement.

Welcome home to Samantha from her trip to the English Convention at Stratford N Avon. We will hear more about her dancing around England and then going on to Scotland and also a visit to relatives in Holland.

Congratulations to Gary and Co for the effort they put into the Gala Dance and Queensland State Roundup. It was a pity there were not more dancers but all those attending had an enjoyable time. Lovely B.B.Q. too. It was refreshing to hear a great call from one of our 'up and coming' young callers, Natasha. Keep going with your calling. I for one, and there were many more I'm sure, thoroughly enjoyed your calling. Good on you Glenn for encouraging this lovely young girl. I know we will hear a lot more of her in the future.

It was our 'out with winter and in with spring' Soup Night last Sunday. Four lovely soups were home cooked and tasty sweets to follow. Silly games were the order of the night a well as an animal knowledge quiz. Who scored well, they're not telling. We also did a demo at Scarness Park for the National Seniors 40th Birthday. Lots of seniors were there and I am sure we made a good impression judging from the favorable comments afterwards.

Andrew Reid is our next caller on 5th November. Theme is Melbourne Cup so wear your best hat and we may be able to dig up a prize for the best creation at the Mainstream dance.
