WHO WE ARE

MSSC strives to be the leading maritime charity for youth development and lifelong learning. By being a member you’re investing your support in us.

By supporting us MSSC can continue to give young people as Sea Cadets the best possible head start in life through nautical adventure, and through the Marine Society by supporting the personal and professional development of seafarers, helping them to realise their full potential, to get them to where they want to be.

WHO ARE YOU HELPING?

SEA CADETSHannah Subitt – Sea Cadet

I’ve been at my unit since I was about 10. I’ve done so many activities: boating, first aid, shooting, aviation… I have my bronze wings for completing the aviation course and am working towards silver.

I must have made a good impression on these courses, because earlier this year my CO phoned to say that someone from Westminster had called wanting me to do a reading at St Pauls Cathedral. I was amazed they picked me from the whole country!

I was given a prayer to read. I saw HM The Queen and all the royals just a few steps away! I think I read a bit too fast, but I did pretty well. It was so exciting to be there, in front of all those famous people.

MARINE SOCIETYJon Kidd – Merchant Navy

I work in the Merchant Navy for Trinity House, and am responsible for vessel and crew safety. Marine Society helped me by providing a loan for me to gain my Chief Mate (unlimited) and Master up to 3000gt certificate of competency, thus aiding my career progression.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the Marine Society. They provided financial support when I needed it most, which also removed the financial stress and enabled me to focus on my studies.
