Information and News Nr 10/2018 | 1 Illegal dumping in FP Residents are requested to put out their refuse bags ONLY on Thursdays, otherwise it will be re- garded as illegal dumping. A fine may be imposed by the municipality for this transgression. Residents are furthermore expected to place the re- fuse bags on their pavements and not on islands and parks. Reasons for these requests? Refuse bags put out prematurely, put our prema- turely not only pose a health risk, but deface our neighbourhood. Refuse bags on islands hinders the execution of the work of the FNA garden service provider. The refuse removers cannot check the bags of households. Each household may only put out 5 bags per week. The FNA is aware of the poor service delivery of the municipality and communicate regularly with MMM regarding this problem. We need assistance and sup- port from all residents to keep Fichardt Park neat. Please recycle The FNA initiated the recycling project in October 2013. There are still many households that do not participate in this project. The FNA supports Green Waste as an entrepreneur. We request the involvement of all residents in this initiative. Due to the high fuel prices it is not viable for the service provider to pick up a bag here and there. Below a few hints: Start with one product, viz. plastic. We all con- sume milk and soft drinks. Instead of disposing of the bottles, wash them and put it in a clear bag or shopping bag. Bottles can also be compressed to reduce volume. Paper, plastic, glass and tins may all be placed in one bag. No sorting needed. HELP TO SAVE THE WORLD! The FNA informs residents ... The Fichardt Park Neighbourhood Association aims to involve all property owners in Fichardt Park in a re- vised plan for the neighbourhood. Crime has decreased by +/- 50% in our area since 2010, as a result of service provided by the FNA. Residents following news reports are amazed by ever increasing crime in other neighbourhoods. Currently 232 incidents were reported during 2018, compared to 243 in 2017. Our objective is to create a crime-free neighbour- hood. The only way to achieve this is to increase infrastructure viz: additional CCTV cameras and moni- tors, increased patrols and reduced reaction time, which will contribute to a more efficient crime-busting programme. Residents may further assist can assist crime reduc- tion by applying the following pointers : Remove valuables from vehicle. Close windows and lock vehicle when unattended. Activate your alarm system when leaving home. Do not leave garden implements or childrenstoys unattended. Clear post boxes daily. Huge donation for the FNA The FNA gladly thank Petco South Africa for the huge donation received. The FNA supports the demolishing of single-use plas-tic bags. Petco donated 700 recyclable shopping bags which we will distribute among current FNA mem-bers - FREE OF CHARGE!!!

Bags not collected by 10 December 2018, will be sold. We thank one of our FNA members whose dona-tion made it possible to buy 300 extra bags. We will sell these bags at R20 each - one per family.
