6. Resolution to approve the acceptance of the award for the FY 2014 Adult Education Basic Skills Grant in the amount of $109,500.00. Grant period July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.
7. Resolution to approve the submission of the grant application for the 2014 Safety Grant Program through the New Jersey Schools Insurance Group’s CAIP Subfund in the amount of $74,919.15. The grant period is July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. Application due date is April 1, 2014. Background The Safety Grant Program is designed to help members make safety, security and educational related purchases toward loss prevention at the individual district level.

5. TABLED - Resolution to approve the Middle School of Pleasantville to accept the implementation
agreement from the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID). AVID is part of the Middle’s School SIP. The term of the agreement is from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. The program is being implemented to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. AVID includes a Summer Institute component that will focus on leadership systems, instruction and culture. Teachers will receive an overview of how to develop a school culture that closes the expectation and opportunity gaps. The curriculum library is an essential part of the program that includes information that will teach students academic and social skills to help them develop habits and behaviors needed to succeed in a rigorous curriculum. It is required to have an AVID District Director (Carol Reynolds) who will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of the AVID secondary program according to the AVID methodologies and for facilitating the development of site conditions that ensure effective implementation of the program. The total cost to implement the AVID program for 2014-2015 school year is not to exceed $22,357.00.

6. Resolution to approve revisions to the Pleasantville Public Schools District Calendar for the 2013-2014 school year. The revisions reflect the days the district was closed due to inclement weather on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 and Wednesday, January 29, 2014. The district will have early dismissal on Monday, June 23, 2014 and Tuesday, June 24, 2014 for students and in-service for staff members in the afternoon. The
