Introduction The System Manual Document is intended to be a “Quickstart Manual for a System”.It´s intention is not to replace any product documentation.

Instead it will deliver all the information needed on top of the product documentation to install, parameterize and start-up the outlined system. The functional description or specification of a specific user application is not part of this manual.

Nevertheless the document outlines some typical applications where the system might be used.

Typical Applications

Introduction Typical applications or sub-applications which use systems as outlined in thefollowing chapters are seen in the following market sectors:

Industry

•  Small automation systems using transportation machinery (e.g. Conveyor)

•  Decentralised automation systems supplementing large and medium sizedmachinery

Buildings/Services

• Ventilator Control

• Heating Control

Energy & Infrastructu re

•  RTU for Pump or Valve controlling (pipeline or fountain )

•  RTU for Energy measurement station

•  Filter cleaning control in waterworks

 Appl ication Descript ion Example

Ventilation Control The application controls aventilation system in anindustrial building .The measuring temperaturegive the two set points for the start /stop of theventilation.

Heating Control The application controls aheating system of anbuilding.

RTU for Pump control or Valve control (pipeline or fountain )

The application controls afountain in an infrastructurenetwork of a municipalservices company. It is possible to control thesystem remotely viamodem.

Filter cleaning control inwaterworks

The application controlsand cleans the filter of anwaterworks. With a “Step byStep” program the filter willbe cleaned by air followedby fresh water . It is alsopossible to control thesystem remotely via

System

Introduction The system chapter describes the architecture, the components, the dimension andthe amount of components used within this system.

 Architecture

Overview The system is built up with a low end plc with control and visualisation via small textdisplay to control the connected starter controller and AC motor unit. It includes a safetyprotection in the form of an emergency stop and main switch. The starter controller ishard-wired to the I/O-module of the Twido, which controls the AC-Motor and readsmessages from the TeSys-U – alarm-module for error indication. The Magelis XBT-N withan integrated 4 function keypad on the frontside is the human interface for parameter setting and also displays the application status in text form.

Components   Hardware:

•  Twido Modular (PLC)

•  Phaseo power supply (PS)

•  TeSys-U Starter Controller (SC)

•  Magelis XBT-N (HMI)

• Standard AC-Motor

Software:

•  Twidosoft Version 2.0

•  Magelis XBTL1003M V4.2

 Amount of Components

For this stand alone application every product is needed only one time.

Dimension The small sizes of the Twido PLC, power supply, and TeSys-U allow the parts to beincluded in a single cabinet of size 220x200x200mm (l, w, d).

The Magelis XBT-N HMI could be built into the front door of the cabinet.

Hardware

General   •  All devices can mounted on the inside of a cabinet. This mainly requires M5*18mm screws, nuts and a 35mm DIN rail for fixing

•  230VAC wiring between the main switch, emergency stop, TeSys-U and AC-Motor

•  24VDC wiring between the power supply and PLC. The XBT-N is powered fromthe PCL via the Modbus communication cable.

Software

General For the implementation of this system the user needs the following software tools:

•  Twidosoft for programming the PLC.

•  XBT-L1003 for designing the Magelis text display lines.

Your PC needs a Microsoft Windows operation system (Windows 98, 2000,or XP).For Installation place the CD in the CD-drive of your PC. The CD Auto-Start opensthe Installation menu and leads you through the installation.

The Software installation path on your harddisk is by default be:

•  Twidosoft \Program Files\Schneider Electric\Twidosoft

  XBT-L1003 \Program Files\Schneider Electric\XBT-L1000

Communication

General It is a hard-wired configuration without communication via a bus system. For HMI functionality the Magelis XBT-N is connected to the Twido PLC via Modbus

RTU protocol. For this communication you must parameterize the Modbus port in thePLC + HMI and the additional dialogue table in the HMI application to process theinformation.

PLC

Introduction The PLC section describes the different steps needed to initialize, parameterize, programm the plc logic to fullfill the former description of the system functionality. The user application is written with the Twidosoft programming tool. The Twido application is split into:

•  The Hardware module

•  Communication port, address and protocol

•  Option : additional Com port TWDNOZ485D for the HMI Modbus communication

•  Insert Application program

Hardware module:When you start Twidosoft for the first time, you can chooseeither a new application or an

existing application. For a newPLC application select “File”and “new program”.

If you selected “new” or if youhave changed an existingapplication, store your application using either the

disk icon or the menu “saveas”.

The default hardware modulelisted in the browser screen isthe TWDLMDA40DUK. In our application we are using the

TWDLMDA20DRT. So selectthe default module, open withthe left mouse button a newwindows “Change BaseController” and select the rightmodule TWDLMDA20DRT

Insert Application Program The PLC program (the Twidosoft source) for thisapplication can be found in a file accompanyingthis document. The following steps explain howto input the user logic:

First you choose theprogramming language editor:

•  List Editor (IL, AWL)

•  Ladder Editor (LD, KOP)

The List Editor screen:Use the toolbar to select the List editor functions : e.g. LD for Load or SR for setregister .....

The Ladder Editor  screen:

With the click on second icon Edit you select the Ladder editor functions : e.g.Contact, Set Coil or Timer

If you have finished inputtingyour program, click onProgram in the project browser with the left mouse button andselect “analyze program”.Twidosoft checks the source in

case of faults and giveswarnings.

Before you can transfer theapplication to the PLC youmust configure thecommunication port of the PC. After you have connected theTwido controller to your PC

using the Twido connectingcable TSXPCU1030, you cantest the connection with the“Check PLC” selection in the“PLC” menu. If the test issuccessful choose the menu“Connect” to load the programinto the controller.

After successfully transferringyour program to the controller you can start it by selecting“RUN” in the “PLC” menu.

Before you start the PLC(i.e. before selecting “ RUN”)in running mode refer to thesafety instructions of theapplication !
