MASTER CLASS. This is a text, which has been recognised with awards many times and staged worldwide. It deals with love for art, for music. Fascinating. Proving the claim that life without art makes no sense. That art can make everything, including everyday reality, gain richness and value. The story of an artist who relinquished to art. Art, which made her happy and admired and at the same time – lonely and disappointed with life. A great story about an artist’s work, technique and relationship with the audience. Fot. Callas returns

After many years and numerous new approaches to her biography, hundreds of publications in the last 20 years, interviews and videos on YouTube, following two biographic cinema and several more television films a new interpretation appeared of Terrence McNally’s unique MARIA CALLAS.

The best of Różewicz

A Polish classic. A text belonging to the Polish theatrical canon; once staged always and everywhere, today it has gained new meaning and validity. A wonderful fable returns for Christmas

This magnif icent ballet is our traditional proposal before Christmas, which for years now has been extremely popular. It all begins in Warsaw in the early 19th century. E.T.A. Hoffman, a well-known German romantic lived here for a shor t time. Some say it was exactly in the tenement house at Freta street that he conceived the fable about The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, which he f irst told to his friend Hitzig’s children and then wrote it down and published in Berlin.

The famous scenographer and choreographer Toer van Schayk set the play in the Hitzigs’ house in Warsaw, with a winter view of the Vistula and the Royal Castle. In such settings and accompanied by Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s exquisite music we can see the charming story of little Marie’s Christmas in the land of dolls.

Moniuszko for New Year’s Eve

“Maxie was right … these halls indeed are haunted. Not so! Though how and when I cannot tell, I detect uncanny powers, a house not haunted but enchanted! Unalerted, I’m taken captive by the hypnotic eyes of Anna...” – this quotation comes from The Haunted Mansion. Moniuszko’s opera is an inexhaustible source of quotes. It is for sure no exaggeration to say that no other opera is so well known to Polish audiences, so recognisable and so loved. Every next generation discovers its humour, nostalgy, honest patriotism devoid of inflated pathos, but above all – its melodic beauty, perfect orchestration, dramaturgical logic in Jan Chęcinski’s brilliant libretto.

Extensive parts of the Polish operatic masterpiece will make up the next one of incessantly popular New Year’s Eve concerts. With a cast of excellent soloists and conducted by Jacek Kaspszyk the evening performance will be unforgettable.

Favourite stage characters are back again in Warsaw

This magnificent ballet, with the plot set in Padua, is a brilliant story of the rebellious and unbearable Katharina from whom everybody stays away, but the brazen Petruchio of Verona, who is hoping for her hefty dowry. It is only his teasing stubbornness, a man’s cunning and sense of humour gradually bring about her genuine metamorphosis and transform an untamed shrew into a submissive wife. Apart from Katharine and Petruchio this fascinating ballet will also feature an entire gallery of scenic figures straight from the Italian Commedia dell’arte.

The show’s choreography was created by John Cranko from the UK; one of the most famous choreographers of the 20th century and at the same time a master of characters loved in ballet by audiences and dancers for offering an opportunity for great scenic creations.
