On the Toolbars tab, click “New....”, a new toolbar with the name “Platform Grating” appears in the toolbar tree. You can enter a new name for the toolbar. 3. Search for the extension on the list on the left, click on it and then click the right arrow to add it to the toolbar. Some extensions are started from a macro, entering “macro:” in the “Filter” input box will list those extensions. 4. Repeat step 3 if you would like to add more extensions to the toolbar. 5. Click Close. Limitation: If you want to create a user-defined toolbar for drawing extensions, create it in the modeling mode, otherwise the toolbar is not saved. 4. Usage

1. Purpose and description

Platform Grating is an extension application, which creates grating plates for selected platform automatically.

3. Installation

This is part of the TIN 2012 installations

3.1. User toolbar

This extension application installer creates a user toolbar in Tekla Structures. However, it is user (ie, Windows user account) specific; which means, the user installing the extension would get the user toolbar in Tekla Structures and another user would not.

To manually add an extension to a user toolbar in Tekla Structures:

1. Click Tools > Customize to open the Customize dialog box.

2. On the Toolbars tab, click “New....”, a new toolbar with the name “Platform Grating” appears in the toolbar tree. You can enter a new name for the toolbar.

3. Search for the extension on the list on the left, click on it and then click the right arrow to add it to the toolbar. Some extensions are started from a macro, entering “macro:” in the “Filter” input box will list those extensions.

4. Repeat step 3 if you would like to add more extensions to the toolbar.

5. Click Close.

Limitation:

If you want to create a user-defined toolbar for drawing extensions, create it in the modeling mode, otherwise the toolbar is not saved.

To use the extension application:

1. Click on the toolbar button ”Platform Grating”. The above dialog box is displayed.

2. Click on “Pick Outer Boundary” to specify platform outer boundary lines.

3. Click on “Pick Inner Boundaries” to specify platform opening (i.e. rectangular or polygonal).

4. To re define the boundaries click on “Reset Boundaries” and repeat step 2

5. Click on “Create” to plate the grating plates with the specified thickness, length, width and gap.

5. Extension Application properties

Property Description

Thickness Thickness of the Grating Plate

Length Length of the Grating Plate. Length is in direction first picked outer boundary line, i.e. first picked 2 points direction.

Width Width of the Grating Plate

Edge Gap Edge distance between outer grating plate and platform outer boundary

Gap between grating Distance between grating plate to another grating plate
