PLASTICS AS FUEL

PRESENTED BY F.SHEEMA A.THEJASWANI email:fsheema1992@gmail .com [email protected]

Page 2: Plastic 2 Fuel

Plastics have a great point to be discussed

They cause land pollution Responsible for releasing hazardous

gases into the atmosphere Responsible for green house effect

Page 3: Plastic 2 Fuel

BUT

CAN ANYONE THINK OF THAT

Page 4: Plastic 2 Fuel

WHY CAN’T WE CONVERT THAT WASTE PLASTIC INTO

A USEFUEL FUEL ??????

Page 5: Plastic 2 Fuel

YES WE CAN

Page 6: Plastic 2 Fuel

WHAT ARE PLASTIC WASTES ?

Everything what we use today are made of plastics but once they are used they are just thrown into the atmosphere

Page 7: Plastic 2 Fuel

About 1850 tonnes of plastic wastes are released into the atmosphere daily in our country

40% is renewed and 60%remins as free

Types of plastic that contribute to fuel production :

PROCESS OF CONVERSION:

TYPES OF PLASTIC PALLETS:

There are 3 types plastic pellets that produce different products.

[polystyrene] gives liquid fuels, i.e. diesel, petrol and kerosene.

PE[polyethylene] and PP[polypropylene] give gaseous fuels.

FUEL YIELD IN THIS PROCESS :One kg of plastic yields 950 ml of

crude oil.

This crude oil is later subjected to fractional distillation.

This further gives three major fuels.

APPLICATIONS:

Page 18: Plastic 2 Fuel

ADVANTAGES:

This is completely eco friendly and greener technology.

Page 19: Plastic 2 Fuel

This decreases the Co2 emission.

Reduces the area under landfills.

Reduces the crude oil imports.

ADVANTAGES:

Page 20: Plastic 2 Fuel

DISADVANTAGES:

•To install this plant the initial cost is very high

•It requires large space to store the plastic wastes

Page 21: Plastic 2 Fuel

CONCLUSION:

“THE WORD WASTE HAS NO MEANING WHEN ONE KNOWS HOW TO UTIZE IT”

Page 22: Plastic 2 Fuel

PLASTIC IS NO MORE WASTE;IT’S A RESOURCE FROM NOW ON….
