1979Creation of the RIOU company in PONT-AUDEMER (UpperNormandy, France) by Pierre and Christiane RIOU. Activities: painting,insulation, installation of secondary glazings & double-glazing.

1983Creation of VIP RIOU in BEUZEVILLE (Upper Normandy, France),a manufacturing unit of double-glazing in a 500 sqm workshop, with anassembly line designed and produced by Pierre RIOU.Development of a roller press for insulating glass assembly.

1988VIP RIOU becomes VIP (Vitrages Isolants de Pont-Audemer) and movesto BOULLEVILLE (Upper Normandy, France) in a brand new workshopof 1,000 sqm.Management Award given to Pierre RIOU by the Chambers of Tradeof Eure, Calvados and Seine-Maritime.Presentation at the International Exhibition GLASSTEC inDÜSSELDORF (Germany) of the RIOU horizontal press. Filing ofpatents.

1989Creation of VIC (Vitrages Isolants du Cotentin) in SAINT-LÔ (LowerNormandy, France), a glass processing unit in a workshop of 1,500 sqm.

1990The European Patent Office atTHE HAGUE (Netherlands) awardedPierre RIOU as inventor, a patent for a process and a machine.

1992The American trophy "The Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks"awarded to Pierre RIOU.

1993Acquisition in LOUDEAC (Brittany, France) of a glass processing unit,renamed VIB (Vitrages Isolants de Bretagne).

1999Creation of the company RIOU GESTION, holding focused on providingessentially administrative and sales services to its subsidiaries.

2000Trademarking "PIERRE ET CRISTAL" at I.N.P.I., whose activities are themanufacturing of glass fusing & thermoformed decorative objects.

2002Extension of VIP premises from 4,700 sqm to 11,000 sqm, with theacquisition of an automatic assembly line for insulating glass, anautomatic glass cutting production line and a tempering furnace fortoughened glass and toughened curved glass.This company manufactures insulating glass, toughened glass, enamelledglass, silk-screened glass, curved glass, processed glass, sand-blasted glass,decorative and thermoformed glass.

2005Acquisition in MONTADY (Languedoc-Roussillon, France) of a glassprocessing unit, renamed SLPV (Société Languedocienne des ProduitsVerriers).This company manufactures insulating glass, structural glass andprocessed glass.

2006Acquisition of 2 factories to the British glass manufacturer Pilkington:• LES HERBIERS (Pays-de-la-Loire, France), renamed VIV (VitragesIsolants Vendéens), specialised in the manufacturing of insulating glasswith theTPSwarm-edge technology.

• VENDIN-LE-VIEIL (Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France), renamed VIN(Vitrages Isolants du Nord). Manufacture of insulating glass andreplacement insulating glass.

2007Creation of the logistics company STV (Société deTransports Verriers)which aims at the internal transport of the whole production of thegroup. STV is also open to all public transport and charter.

Creation of GIF (Glass Ile-de-France) in LE BLANC-MESNIL(Ile-de-France, France), which is a distribution and trading companydedicated to the Parisian market.

2008Pierre RIOU receives the insignia of Chevalier de l’Ordre National duMérite (National Order of Merit) by the French Minister of Defence.

2009Acquisition of V2S (Vitrages de Sécurité du Sud) in NARBONNE(Languedoc-Roussillon, France), specialised in the production oflaminated glass for the protection of property and persons, as well aslaminated glass for decorative and architectural applications.

Acquisition of Pilkington France, a company with 4 glass processing plants(300 people):• GAILLEFONTAINE (Upper Normandy, France), renamed LVI(Le Vitrage Isolant): production of insulating glass, glazing withintegrated blind, structural glass and replacement insulating glass.

The group RIOU Glass, founded and chaired by Pierre RIOU, is an independent family-runcompany, whose job for 30 years is the processing of flat glass. Via our 17 factorieslocated in France, in Réunion & in Mauritius, we process and deliver the glass in all itsforms and for all applications including construction, industry, decoration, furniture...
