them get all they need to survive. Adaptation- a special trait that helps an

organism survive Plants have adaptations for:

getting foodprotectionreproduction conserving, or saving, energy

Should I Stay or Should I Go? Are trees dying when they lose their

leaves? No, they’re just resting, or going into a dormant phase.

Dormant- when trees drop their leaves to save water and energy during the winter seasons.

Dormancy is an adaptation for conserving energy.

Deciduous Trees: Just Can’t Decide

Deciduous- a type of tree that loses their leaves to conserve energy during the winter season

The trees stop making chlorophyll and the leaves turn back to their original colors.

Coniferous Trees: We Got Cones, But No Ice Cream

Coniferous- a type of tree that stays green all year and produces cones
