Plant Hormones/Phytohormones These are chemical compounds which are released by smulated cells in plants and are responsible for the control and coordinaon in plants Types of Plant Hormones Auxins * When plants detect light, auxins are synthesized in the shoot ps and diffuse towards the shaded region and help the cells to grow long. * Auxin smulates the cells to grow longer on the side of the shoot which is away from light, thus the plant bends towards the light. Gibberellins * Work in the presence of auxin hormone. * Promote cell enlargement and differenaon. They also promote fruit growth, elongaon of shoots and in breaking the dormancy in seeds and buds. Cytokinins * They promote cell division in plants. They also promote the opening of the stomata and delay ageing in leaves. Abscisic Acid * It promotes dormancy of seeds & buds, closing of stomata, wilng and falling of leaves and detachment of fruit and flower from the plant. * This hormone inhibits the growth of a plant. Plant Hormones/PhytohormonesThese are chemical compounds which are released by smulated cells in plants and are responsible for the control and coordinaon in plants

Types of Plant Hormones

Auxins* When plants detect light, auxins are synthesized in the shoot ps and diffuse towards the shaded region and help the cells to grow long.* Auxin smulates the cells to grow longer on the side of the shoot which is away from light, thus the plant bends towards the light.

Gibberellins* Work in the presence of auxin hormone.* Promote cell enlargement and differenaon. They also promote fruit growth, elongaon of shoots and in breaking the dormancy in seeds and buds.

Cytokinins* They promote cell division in plants. They also promote the opening of the stomata and delay ageing in leaves.

Abscisic Acid* It promotes dormancy of seeds & buds, closing of stomata, wilng and falling of leaves and detachment of fruit and flower from the plant.* This hormone inhibits the growth of a plant.
