COURSEWORK

• I have chosen to create a music video for the song ‘If I Had a Tail’ by

Queens of The Stone Age:

• My music video will be a ‘Comedy/Fantasy’ video

• The song lyrically is trying to represent a person who feels they are better

than others

• In my video I will try and represent this character and why people like this

shouldn’t think that they are greater than anyone else

• Overall I am trying to show that there should be an equilibrium in the way

people treat each other

• “Treat people as you yourself want to be treat”

MY IDEA

• I have gathered ideas for my video from music videos such as:

• ‘All I Want’ by Kodaline

• ‘The Bad Touch’ by Bloodhound Gang

• And ‘Sugar we’re goin down’ by Fall Out Boy

• All of these songs have music videos that in someway relate to mine

MY INSPIRATIONS

• The most used channels shown by my

audience research are ‘KERRANG’

& ‘SCUZZ’

• This means I WILL have an audience

that will watch my video

• It also means my target audience will

have high expectations of a rock

music video

AUDIENCE RESEARCH

• What most people want to see in

music videos is a mix of:

• Performance

• Narrative

• And Concept

• This is has helped me decide what

to put in my music video

AUDIENCE RESEARCH

• The most popular types of humor

are:

• Insult Comedy

• And Alternative Comedy

• My research has helped me in

choosing what type of comedic

scenes to use

• This will help me make it more

amusing for them and overall

more enjoyable

AUDIENCE RESEARCH

• As I have nearly finished the pre-production of my video, I expect the

whole project to be finished by around January 2015

• The production of my video I expect to not take longer than a week or

two

• Then the post-production work, i.e. the cutting, editing and finishing of

my work a bit longer, maybe a month depending on how much time I get

to edit it in college

VIABILITY

• For my music video I will only need one particular outfit- Devil horns and

tail for my main character

• I will need around 10 characters for my video which I can source from

around college

• And for clips of a band I will use my own band for this footage

• To record the video I will need a video camera, microphone and fisheye

lense (for the band footage)

• I will need a good editing software on the computers, something like ‘Sony

Vegas Pro’ is a good example of this

• Overall I don’t feel like this will be a challenge for me to get
