This is indeed an unprecedented time at St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic as well as in our nation with regard to shaping the future of healthcare. How we evolve as we balance meeting the needs of our patients, being a strong partner in the community and responding to the changes and challenges of healthcare delivery overall has been our chief focus this year.

For these reasons and as a result of a strategic planning process that will be completed in 2015, we feel confident we will develop future initiatives that will recognize:

In 2009, Bobby had to stop working due to poor health. He had herniated discs in his back, a heart condition, diabetes and high blood pressure and to make matters even worse he was also overweight. A friend of his told him about St. Luke’s and he applied for services. “I was a real wreck when I first came to St. Luke’s”, William said. “The doctors there got me on the right medications and started motivating me to lose weight. I can’t say

enough about how well I was taken care of.” William has lost 57 lbs and says he feels like a new man. “My life has improved 110 % and I am now able to do volunteer work and also care for my 83 year old mother. If it wasn’t for St. Luke’s, I’d be in the grave. If I ever win the lottery, it’s coming straight to St. Luke’s.” It is a privilege to have served Bobby and know the difference we’ve made in his life.

St. Luke's is fortunate to have a program that feeds volunteers during evening clinics. Restaurants, individuals, churches, and civic groups donate food so that volunteers arriving straight from work can have a quick dinner before starting their shift at St. Luke's. Over 100 meals were provided in 2014.

We have audited the accompanying statements of financial statements of St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic of Spartanburg, Inc. (a non-profit organization) which comprise the statements of financial position as of December 31, 2014 and 2013 and the related statements of activities, functional expenses, and cash flows for the years then ended, and the related notes to the financial statements.

Management’s Responsibility for the Financial StatementsManagement is responsible for the preparation and fair presentation of these financial statements in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America; this includes the design, implementation, and maintenance of internal control relevant to the preparation and fair presentation of financial statements that are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error.

Auditors’ ResponsibilityOur responsibility is to express an opinion on these financial statements based on our audit. We conducted our audit in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United States of America. Those standards require that we plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements are free from material misstatement.

An audit involves performing procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements. The procedures selected depend on the auditors’ judgment, including the assessment of the risks of material misstatement of the financial statements, whether due to fraud or error. In making those risk assessments, the auditors considers internal control relevant to the entity’s preparation and fair presentation of the financial statements in order to design audit procedures that are appropriate in the circumstances, but not for the purpose of expressing an opinion on the effectiveness of the entity’s internal control. Accordingly, we express no such opinion. An audit also includes evaluating the appropriateness of accounting policies used and the reasonableness of significant accounting estimates made by management, as well as evaluating the overall presentation of the financial statements.

We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our audit opinion.

OpinionIn our opinion, the financial statements referred to above present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of St. Luke’s Free Medical Clinic of Spartanburg, Inc. as of December 31, 2014 and 2013 and the changes in its net assets and its cash flows for the years then ended in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America.
