Membership The Plaisterers’ Company thrives on the diversity and enterprise of its membership. On joining, Freemen and Liverymen are encouraged to actively support the Company in its endeavours whenever possible. In return, new members can expect to share the good fellowship and common purpose for which Livery life in the City of London is known and admired. For further information on how to become a member of the Plaisterers’ Company, please contact the Clerk or visit our website. Eligibility There are several ways by which prospective members can apply to join the Company, initially as a Freeman and then as a Liveryman. Patrimony Available to any child, male or female, born after their father’s or mother’s election to the Livery. Redemption Available to applicants who have been duly proposed and seconded and recommended to the Court by the Membership Committee after interview. By invitation Exceptionally, the Court may invite a person to become an Honorary Freeman or Liveryman of the Company. Royal Charters The Company received its first Charter in 1501. It continues to have a significant relevance today, supporting its ancient trade by promoting good practice standards in both modern and traditional plastering methods. Four further Charters were granted in 1559 and 1597 in the reign of Elizabeth I, in 1604 by James I and in 1667 by Charles II. Plaisterers’ Hall Plaisterers’ Hall, the largest Livery Hall in the City of London, is decorated throughout with beautiful plasterwork in the neoclassical style created by Robert Adam. Much admired by all who visit, it provides a superb setting not only for Plaisterers’ functions but also a number of charitable fund-raising events, other Livery Company dinners and commercial lettings. • Liverymen are encouraged to exercise their right to vote in Mayoral and Shrieval elections and attend City of London briefings. Potential members who work or live in the ‘Square Mile’ are particularly welcome.

Charity• The Plaisterers’ Company Charitable Trust,

established in 1980, supports achievement and education within the plastering trade and our affiliations through bursaries and awards.

• The capital is increased by regular donations from Liverymen and new members are encouraged to contribute.

• Each year the Master designates a personal charity.
