Section 3 Section 3 Basic requirements for the System Design of a Remote Video System BACK TO INDEX

• Site to be protected must be a secure compound without rights of way.

• Site must be secure of all loose items that could cause false alarms

Where devices are identified, those which have signalled 3 or more times within 30 minutes during

daylight hours, we will place the rogue Camera or PIR on test for a period of 2 hours. Having done

so we will notify the installer & monitored premises via email identifying the device number and

the system to which it belongs.

Please ensure we have a valid email address on file to deliver such reports to site, failure to do so

will result in no notification being sent

• Perimeter dual pair beaming to further reduce false alarms from animals and loose items should preferably be used to protect the site. Detection cannot therefore be masked.

• Access to and from the site is to be controlled locally with some form of access control. The setting and unsetting of an alarm system or the group/ward of an alarm system is an acceptable method as is a separate card reader system. Microtech Galaxy with MicroMax access incorporated particularly lends itself to an ideal solution.

• Ensure that the system cannot be left off when the employee is leaving the site.

• Lighting levels should be high; locally this is a good deterrent and provides good remote pictures.

• All cameras must be in line of sight of detectors and preferably colour

• All cameras should cover one another for protection against masking.

• Consideration should be given to camera/detector coverage due to malicious blocking by stock items or high-sided vehicles if Redwall detectors are deployed.

• Camera numbering must be in a logical sequence for RVRC monitoring of the site.

• System configuration should be that after receipt of an alarm activation further detection should alert the RVRC operator with new alarm pictures from the area concerned.

• On receipt of an alarm transmission the operator will be presented with a quad picture showing the incident, thereafter a sequenced tour will be carried out on full screen size pictures to determine whether there is a sighting or not.

• A sighting results in a dispatch to nominated authorities.

• No sighting results in key holder notification as a duty of care and to alert the key holder of the lack of discipline on site if applicable. If the key holder/Installer is unaware of the volumes of activation's being created to the RVRC nothing will be done to reduce them.

• SMS will increase charges based on volumes of alarms. Fees permit an average of 2 alarm calls per day. Calls over and above this number will be charged. Keep the access to & from the site simple to use & isolate the cameras/detectors when the employee gains access.

• Do not have standing instructions with the RVRC that confuse the operator. Put the filters that you want on the system locally at site by deploying correct system design. Allowing all alarms to signal to the RVRC causes complacency as the site is always signalling to the operator.

• The object is only to transmit genuine alarm activation's to the RVRC.

• Southern and Northern Monitoring do not operate telemetry controls of the cameras this must be automated through programmed sets.

• Southern and northern Monitoring Do not remotely set and unset the system we cannot take General or temporary instructions to ignore activations at set times. The system must be disarmed by the end user or service company
