Technical specifications

It is a well-known fact that when building CNC machines with apply of PC and MACH3 program, a common problem occurs with existence of necessary number of free inputs/outputs for limit sensors, buttons and external loads connection. The problem caused in the first place by the fact that PC LPT-port (the port through which MACH3 operates the machine) has only 12 output lines and 5 input lines which is not enough for building a full-featured CNC machine.To solve the problem you can connect extenders of input/output lines to the system which collaborates with MACH3 through COM-port (or USB port using COM>USB adapter) under protocol MODBUS. MACH3 supports MODBUS devices.

PLA001mb is output lines expander, 8 independent relays controlled from MACH3 through COM-port (or USB-port using COM>USB adapter) under protocol MODBUS.

PLA002mb is input lines expander, 8 independent optoisolated inputsare registered by MACH3 through COM-port (or USB-port using COM>USB adapter) under protocol MODBUS.

Press ‘Apply’ button, then ‘OK’. Be sure to restart MACH3.In the ‘Settings’ window of Function Cfg`s/Setup Serial Modbus Control it is necessary to perform module support setting PLA002mb, set the parameters as it is shown below:

Now it is necessary to correlate intput signals of MACH3 with the inputs on PLA002mb board. MODBUS port in MACH3 is “0” port. Input “IN1” is “Pin #0” …Input “IN8” это “Pin #7”.Example of limit sensors setting of X, Y, Z axes is shown below:

Connection of module PLA002mb is performed according to fig.1Module PLA002mb is connected to COM-port of PC through a standard connector DB-9 XP11 or through USB port through COM>USB adapter (it is purchased separately, not included in the set). Module PLA002mb has inbuilt rectifier of alternating voltage therefore as a power source you can use direct current source 12V or alternate current – 9V.The voltage is connected to XP9 or XP10, polarity of connection is not important.We recommend to use 12V source of the PC as a voltage source.Input signals are connected to IN1...IN8 (optoinputs), presence of IN1...IN8 signals is indicated by HL1...HL8 LEDs.

Start MACH3. In the “Settings” window of Config/Ports and Pins turn on ModBus InputOutput Support, according to the figure:

04. MACH3 installation for module operation

After setting press ‘OK’, go to diagnostics window (press Alt-7), when supplying 5V voltage to the appropriate optoinput of PLA002mb module, you can be sure of the set device operation.

The warranty period is 12 months after purchasing and is valid only if all operational conditions and scheduled maintenance are strictly followed.

3. Warranty service procedure3.1. Warranty service is performed by testing the claimed product defect. 3.2. If the defect is proved, warranty repair is carried out.

4. We do not assume any responsibility for glass, electric lamps, starters and expendable materials as well as:4.1. Damaged product caused by inappropriate transport and store conditions, wrong connection, operation in abnormal (off-design) mode, or in conditions which are not manufacturer-supplied (including temperature and humidity out of limits of recommended range), having damages due to third-party circumstances (voltage jumps, natural disasters, etc.), also having mechanical or thermal damages.

4.2. The product with traces of foreign objects or substances impact, including dust, liquids, insects, also objects having extraneous inscription. 4.3. The product with traces of unauthorized tampering and (or) repair process (traces of opening, home-made soldering, elements changing etc).4.4. The product with self-diagnostic function that shows improper exploitation.4.5. Technically complex product in respect of which assembly and integration and start-up works were not performed by Seller specialists or by recommended organizations, except in cases directly regulated under goods documentation. 4.6. In cases when the product exploitation was performed in conditions when power supply did not correspond with manufacturer’s requirements, also when there is no electrical protection device .4.7. The product which was resold by the initial buyer to the third party.4.8. The product with defects which were caused by low-quality spare parts or fulfilled their service life spare parts,consumable materials, also using spare parts, consumable materials not corresponding with manufacturer’s requirements.

Produced and accepted in accordance with obligatory requirements of valid technical documentation and is qualified for exploitation.
