During this week, the girls will be learning about “Face andFeelings”. The main objective of this unit is that girls canrecognize and communicate feelings and emotions, such assadness, joy, fear, surprise and anger. We also expect themto realize that people are different, and that those differencesmake each person unique and special.We encourage you to take advantage of this topic. Talk withthe girls and your family about how they have been feelingduring the quarantine. Invite them to express their feelings,and to listen with respect and empathy.Durante esta semana las niñitas aprenderán sobre “La cara y lossentimientos”. El objetivo de esta unidad es que las alumnas reconozcan ycomuniquen sentimientos y emociones , tales como: tristeza, alegría, miedo,sorpresa y rabia. ActivityCreating my Monster: Invite the girls to look for a mirror inthe house. Ask them to look at their face in the mirror and nameeach part of their face as they point to it (nose, mouth, ears,eyes, teeth). Encourage them to use the strucure “I have...” forexample “I have one mouth” or “I have two ears”.Remember the story “Go Away Big Green Monster” read duringD.E.A.R..me.Invite the girls to create their own Monster face.Tell them that monsters don’t need to have exactly the samenumber of eyes or ears as humans. Invite them to be creative!They can choose the materials they have at home to make theirmonster. Once it is ready keep the piece of work inside the girl’sfolder.Creando mi monstruo: Usar un espejo para que las niñitas miren sus caras y nombrenlas diferentes partes en inglés, apuntándolas con su dedo. JOLLY PHONICS“Sound Discrimination”Sounds of Musical Instruments:Gather different musical instruments you have at home. Startplaying the instruments one by one and say their names outloud.Then, put the musical instruments inside a box or a bag thatwould not show what it has inside. An adult will play one of themusical instruments inside of the bag or box, without showingit to the girl, and the girl will have to listen and guess whatinstrument it is. She must say its name. On May 1st, we celebrate “International Workers Day”, whichis why it is a public holiday. On this day we commemorate allthe things people around the world have achieved, such as an8 hour working period per day and two resting days a week.We also celebrate the strength of all the workers and unions.El 1 de mayo celebramos el “Día del Trabajador”, por eso es feriado.
