Abstract:Sahih al-Bukhari is the most authentic book after the Holy Qur'an. It,s importance hasbeen acknowledged by the commentators, traditionists, jurists, philosophers andMuslim researchers. Many scholars have written books on different aspect of SahihBukhari including its commentaries and about the life of transmitters etc. The firstexegetical work on Bukhari was completed by Imam Kabir Sulaiman al-Khattabientitled "A'lam al-Hadith". Thereafter, Ibn Battal, Ibn Hubairah, Nawwi, Kirmani, IbnKathir, Ibn Rajab, Ibn Hajar Asqalani, Qastalani and Allama 'Aini wrote commentarieson this hadith collection. Among the scholars of Indian subcontinent Allama AnwarShah Kashmiri wrote Faid al-Bari explaining prophetic traditions included in SahihBukhari. This article introduces Hafiz Ibn Rajab and his commentary on SahihBukhari titled "Fath al-Bari Fi Shrah Sahih al-Bukhari". Ibn Rajab, a hadith scholar of8th century Hijrah belonged to Baghdad who was an unparalleled traditionist of histime. He devoted his life for study, teaching and compilation of hadith. Ibn Rajab,s commentary on Bukhari is written in lucid manners. It is replete with authenticinformation. However, Ibn Rajab wasunable to complete this work in his life.
