AdWeek: Domino's Ads Pop Up on City Sidewalks

Domino's logos have been "cleaned" into dirty sidewalks in Los Angeles, Philadelphia and New York as part of a campaign to promote the chain's American Legends pizza.

GreenGraffiti, a business dedicated to clean outdoor advertising, used a high-pressure water hose to spray the eco-friendly images into the grime on the street. The green ads were created early on Thursday, while there was a lull in foot traffic



Through mid-June, a period when imported beer sales dropped 11%, sales of Dos Equis rose more than 17%, moving the brand into eighth place among imports (in a tie with Stella Artois), when shipments rose 13%. That success prompted Heineken executives, who had been running the ads since 2007 in a few stronghold markets for the brand, to take the message national this spring.

Taylor Guitars Marketing As Great As Their Guitars San Diego Women's Business Examiner, Visible MeasuresThere's still no Web evidence of United Airlines responding to the viral video posted by Dave Maxwell, and his band, Sons of Maxwell, that tells a tale about the former mauling the latter's guitar. "United Breaks Guitars" was cited in the lede of Karl Greenberg's round-up of declining satisfaction among airline customers yesterday and he was not alone in bringing attention to it. Visible Measures says there were 30 unique placements with 3.2 million views and 14,000 comments over the first 10 days of its release.

The video tells the tale of Maxwell's $3,500 Taylor guitar being manhandled and damaged by United at O'Hare in Chicago. He attempted to get compensation from the airline but was turned down. After the last rejection, he promised to write and post online three videos about the incident; this is the first.

While United silently takes its snowballing lumps, Taylor Guitars knows a good opportunity when it sees one. Co-founder Bob Taylor has made his own video response, reports Jerrie Dean, proving that its "marketing is as good as its guitars." In announcing that his company can fix any brand of guitar, Taylor says, "We are here to support Dave and to support all you people out there that have had guitars broken."

Some Agencies Upset Over Zappos Review BrandweekIn a blog post, Ignited executive creative director Mike Wolfsohn complains that material it painstakingly prepared for a review by the online retailer Zappos received only a cursory glance by the client, Brian Morrissey and Andrew McMains report.

"If agencies are going to spend weeks preparing their response, the least any client can do is commit 30 minutes to look at it," Wolfsohn says.

According to Morrissey and MeMains, Wolfson's post echoes the private complaints of many agencies that have participated in the review for the $7 million account. Zappos business development and marketing executive Aaron Magness says the company was overwhelmed after an RFP was posted on Adweek.com. Originally, 16 agencies got the RFP, but 170 more contacted the company after the story ran.
