(Coaches, administrators, staff, and aides cannot write a teacher recommendation unless you’ve taken a class from them.) One letter of recommendation from a non-school/non-family member (religious leader, employer, youth group, community agency). Include a 1-page Written Statement which outlines your future educational and vocational/career goals and how you plan to use the scholarship money. Request ONE COPY of your high school transcript with Counselor signature, SAT and ACT scores. Complete application includes application, 2 letters of recommendation, transcript, along with SAT and ACT scores due by the deadline of Friday, April 5, 2019. Allderdice Scholarship—Eligible students attend Allderdice High School, have a job outside of school, and havea GPA of 2.5 or higher. Six awards total—three $1,000 scholarships and three $500 scholarships.

Allegheny War Oliver Scholarship—Eligible students are North Side residents and/or attend a school in the North Side.One award of $2,000.

Barbara Standard Charitable Trust—Eligible students are fatherless (deceased or absent from the home) females wishing togain vocational or other educational training designed to help support themselves. One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded.

Brashear Scholarships:• The Elizabeth Weaver Roth Scholarship—This scholarship is funded by the Bill & Katie Weaver Charitable

Trust in honor of Dr. William R. Weaver’s aunt, Elizabeth Weaver Roth (Class of 1926), whose husband Edgar A. Roth,served as a director of the Pittsburgh Board of Education from March 1960 through July 1968. It was awarded toLangley High School on June 26, 2000. Two awards are expected, at $750 each. A GPA of 3.0 or higher and aboveaverage attendance record are required for this scholarship.

• The Daniel Belisario Academic Scholarship—This scholarship is funded by a Pennsylvania Department ofEducation Incentive Grant awarded to Langley High School during the 1990–91 school year. The award is expectedto be $750. A GPA of 2.8 or higher and above average attendance record are required for this scholarship.

• The Galbraith McFadden Weaver Scholarship—This scholarship is funded by The Gil and Dody WeaverFoundation in honor of Dr. William R. Weaver’s father, Galbraith McFadden Weaver (Class of 1924) and awarded toLangley High School on June 26, 2000. Two awards are expected, at $750 each. A grade point average of 3.0 orhigher and above average attendance record are required for this scholarship.

The Pittsburgh Association of School Retirees (PghASR)—Eligible students are Seniors attending either a 2 or 4 yearinstitution of higher learning or technical/vocational school. Minimum GPA of 2.5. Three $1500 scholarships and two $1000 scholarships will be awarded. The deadline for this application is April 5, 2019.

Westinghouse Scholarship—Eligible students are Seniors attending Westinghouse High School. Students can chooseto complete a Literature Search ($2,000) or a Research Project ($4,000).

Sri Venkateswara Temple Scholarship—Eligible students are a minority that is need based, interest in Interfaith and communityrelations. One scholarship will be awarded at $1,000.

Pittsburgh Foundation Scholarships—Refer to the website at www.pittsburghfoundation.org/scholarships for informationon how to apply. Scholarships specifically for PPS students:

• The Frank A. Weidman Fund• The Robert L. Vann Scholarship Fund• The Unknown Donor Scholarship Fund• Allegheny County Specific Scholarships

There may be other scholarships available and offer at the school level. Students should check with their school building leadership.Not all scholarships listed above will be awarded every year. Awarding of a scholarship depends on availability of funding.
