The Oakland Temple: Why I Chose it?

•I have been through it the most•I served my mission in the California Oakland mission.•It overlooks the bay and sits atop the hills like a castle•It is used by not only Mormons, but also ships as a landmark to guide them into port.

The Oakland Temple: History

•Was the second temple built in California, after the Los Angeles Temple•One of three temples with a central spire built around four corners. The others are the Cochabamba Bolivia Temple and Provo City Temple•Originally built with two large ordinance rooms that fit 200 people.

•Has two 35 ft. sculpted panels that show Christ teaching in the Holy Land and the Americas.•It took 14 years to negotiate the purchase of the land for the temple site.•Pledged to raise $500,000 toward construction costs but ended up raising $675,000.
