Working Title:

New Wave

My magazine will be published monthly and will have a price of £2.50 as I found this was an appropriate price for my audience though my market research. It will have 140 pages overall.

My genre is dance but I will mainly focus on house music as this was the most popular with my target audience. I will include artist interviews and festival reviews.

I will include discount codes for gig tickets and occasionally CD’s for free in my magazine as I found in my audience interviews these were the most requested in a magazine.

Style These images I have taken from existing magazine covers which I will take inspiration from for my own magazine.

I will give my magazine a bold title that spreads across the width of the magazine and contrasts with the background.

I will give my magazine a contrasting background with lots of whitespace to pull focus onto the main image.

I will make my main image bold and make it stand out with not much text or other images overlapping it.

I will take the idea of having the artists name bold and clear for the reader to see to grab further attention.

I will take the idea of pull quotes to further interest my reader and make them stand out by using contrasting colours.

Reader Profile

Sophie is an 18 year old university student who lives in Leeds. She is very passionate about house music and her favourite artists include Avicii, Disclosure, Martin Garrix & Tiesto. She is studying events management and has little responsibilities other than her degree. Sophie has quite a low disposable income but prioritises music downloads and nights out to fulfil her love of dance music. She loves reading New Wave magazine as it allows her to discover new artists and expand her dance music playlist. Music forms part of Sophie’s social life as her friends also share a similar love of dance music and she loves to discover new artists to influence her friends.Sophie enjoys going on a night out as often as she can, almost every weekend and on student nights. Her love of music usually leads her to be the host and invite her friends to get ready at hers and have a few drinks before they go out, whilst listening to her Spotify playlists. Last year, Sophie attended Creamfields festival as she also loves live music and this was right up her street and it is devoted purely to dance music. She found out about this festival through New Wave’s reviews. After her last experience she insists she will be attending the festival annually each year and has also booked tickets to go and see some of her favourite artists she discovered at the festival DJ more locally. She also has interests in beauty, social media and film although her favourite past-time is always listening to music.
