was victorious when she partnered
with Verna and Sherrie.
Verna and Beverly are no longer
friends. According to Bev, instead
of a kiss and hug Verna walked
right past her to give Taco a kiss.
Taco is one cute puppy.
The weather was humid and
windy with a two minute rain on
Saturday. The Lake was low as
expected with the drought. There
were 15 rigs.
The cooks did the usual fare and it
was excellent. Jack Loftin
treated us with his link sausage.
Saturday night Pot Luck had left
over beans, okra and tomatoes,
lasagna, a fruit plate, devilled
eggs, corn casserole, both green
and fruit salads.
The first ones to show up for this
months camp-out were Charlie
and Elaine Rigby. Bill and
Karen McDuff rolled into
Northshore RV Park Sunday after
returning from their trip up north.
Tuesday the Stones and Heberts
arrived. The Landrys, Lanclos’,
Betty D, Verna Nunez, Austins,
Rogers, Loftins, Don LaBorde,
and Harpers all came in
Wednesday. Bob and Rhonda
Ellis on Thursday. The Leo’s
showed up early Friday morning
just as the Heberts were leaving.
Their grandson and girlfriend
were coming to visit and Malcolm
went to the Indians football game.
Congrats PNG on their win over
Lumberton.
The men played dominos and
Texas Holdem. According to
Charlie Rigby, when he got a
straight, Don LaBorde had a
flush. When Charlie had a flush,
Don a higher one, Charlie a full
house, Don a higher one. Don
Harper said he won back what he
lost at the last campout.
The ladies played Hand and Foot.
Beverly lost every game except
Saturday night when she finally

crawled into the refrigerator and
died. It turned out the door
wasn’t closed all the way on its
last use. The $30 worth of pork
ribs and fish were spoiled and
blood and juice everywhere.
The stove in the game room had a
non operable burner so Doug
decided to repair it. When wiring
the new switch he wired it for 220
volts and blew up the rest of the
switches. Thanks to Doug, Ann is
a proud owner of a new stove.
Ann and Doug Austin are hooked
on sequence. They played several
games with the Leo’s and Karen
McDuff. Ann performed a
celebration dance after winning
Friday night.
Hadson and Alberta Roy have
been busy having their kitchen
remodeled but made time to come
to the Wednesday night eat out at
La Cantina in Mid County.
Don Harper read this letter to the
club at the campout meeting. It’s

Green, Kentucky.
Jack and Myrna Steiner sold their
house. It will close on November
14th. They purchased a home in
Hemet, California, a gated
community southeast of Riverside.
The new home will close on
November 15th. Good timing I say.
You know what that means? Yep.
They are moving away. We are
happy for you two and sad for us.
They will be within 45 minutes of
family. Their Pirate Sams dues are
paid up until the end of 2012, so
they have no excuse not to
communicate. Sorry no
refunds! lol. Farewell to our
friends.
Ann Austin went to check on
their game room behind the
house. Upon entering she
discovered a horrible stench. She
said she thought a big rat had
Jana Hebert, daughter of
Malcolm and Barbara Hebert
attended the Texans - Saints
football game in New Orleans’
Super Dome on Sunday Sept. 25.
She was hoping to bring home a
Texas win. The Saints won 40-33
but it was a great game.
Phipott Ford finished repairs on
the Leo’s Motorhome. Just in
time for the October campout.
New computer, coil and spark
plug. Hopefully, the last of costly
repairs for awhile. Knock-on-
wood. Charlie had jury duty on
the week of the campout and he
was hoping he would be on it
until Thursday, that way instead
of working nights he could have
left for Onalaska Thursday
afternoon. Unfortunately he was
released on Tuesday and had to
work Wednesday and Thursday
night shift. He and Sherrie left
Friday morning. Hey y’all
remember what that was like?
Working?
Don Harper brought “99
Orange” 99 proof orange
schnapps. No one would drink it
until he tricked Charlie Leo into
a shot. Charlie misunderstood
and poured a shot for everyone at
the poker table. When they
refused to drink it, Weldon said
he would take his and theirs.
Charlie said it tasted like paint
thinner. Probably would make a
better paint brush cleaner than a
drink.
During their trip last month the

Ann and Doug Austin would like
to invite the Pirate Sams club
members to an afternoon get-
together at their house Saturday
October 29, starting at about
11am. It will be Pot Luck. Doug
is making a pot of chicken and
sausage gumbo for all to enjoy.
You should bring a covered dish
and drink of choice. Ann said she
had plenty of chairs, plates, bowls
and utensils. She will make tea
and lemonade. The address is:
1555 FM 1406. Directions: From
I-10 west, take FM 1406 exit.
Follow feeder road to FM 1406.
Turn right onto 1406 and go ap-
proximately 1 mile on left. 1555
is marked at the end of the drive-
way. Ann and Doug’s phone
number: (409) 781-4123.
Lloyd and Nelda Seiver have
been treating us with a detailed
journal of their trip to Utah. Very
exciting. So far she has emailed
24 days worth. They were missed
at the campout. It sounds like they
are having a wonderful time and
should have many stories to tell us
when they return home. We really
admire your energy Nelda, taking
the time to write such a detailed

Bill McDuff asked that members
who plan to attend the campouts
to please RSVP him so he can
know how many spaces are re-
quired. It also helps the cooks to
know how much food is needed
for the meals.
REMINDER
Elections for new officers will be
held at the November campout.
The positions up for vote are:
President, Vice President and
Secretary. Betty D and Bill
McDuff will continue doing
excellent jobs as Treasurer and
Wagonmaster. We’d like to
acknowledge the extraordinary job
Don Harper, Malcolm Hebert
and Beverly Harper have done
as representatives of Pirate Sams.
We do appreciate the hard
work and commitment that it
takes to be our officers. Thanks
Margie Lanclos received some
very good news from Dr. Pat on
her last test. Everything is
GOOD! We are sooo happy for
you.

Mike Liles and his wife Sue, best
friends of Verna and Honk Nunez
were camping just a few spaces
from her in Northshore. Charlie
Leo recognized him when he and
his wife were walking with their
dogs. Retired from ExxonMobil
Mike used to work with Charlie.
Charlie knew their relationship
with Verna and pointed out her
motorhome. Verna got a pleasant
surprise when she learned her old
friends had been there close by the
whole time. Verna visited with
them and their son and daughter-in-
law. She introduced them to the
club.
Bill and Karen McDuff visited
Josie and Mike Dillon and said
they would love to hear from
members.

WHO’S FEET ARE THESE?
If you think you know, we’ll be
asking at the next campout. Perhaps
we could have a contest and the
winner receive a mystery prize.
Betty D, Barbara Hebert, Beverly
Harper, Janice Stone, Margie
Lanclos and Verna Nunez made a
trip to the beach to find an RV park
to stay at when they attend the
Champagne’s party. On their way
home they stopped and had coffee
with The Austins in Winnie. Ann
said she was thrilled.
FISH FRY
The cooks will prepare a free fish
fry (try saying that 3 times) on
Friday night at the campout in
Conroe November 11th. These are
the fish that were caught at Toledo
Bend during the Fin and Feather
outing. The fishermen included;
Weldon Stone, Don Harper,
Murlin Lough, Malcolm Hebert,
Allen Lanclos and Jack Steiner.
Jack provided the entertainment
when he fell out of the boat and
into the lake. While the men were
on the lake fishing, the ladies were
in the air conditioned clubhouse
drinking margaritas and getting
their faces numb.
The Noels just returned from their
daughters home in Austin. They
went to help install bamboo
flooring.
Paul and Sissy Chisum made a
trip to Washington DC in July.
They took their kids when they
were younger and had such a great
time they wanted to do it again by
themselves. Sissy’s sister Becky
had back surgery and is doing
well. Her mom had tests run to
find out why she was passing out.
The test results haven’t come in
yet. Paul is working his normal
shift at Invista and playing
supervisor as well.
Pete and Mary Yannet returned
home from a 2 month jaunt
including the Ford Plant in
Dearborn, Michigan and Air
Venture Week in Oshkosh,
Wisconsin and then two separate
trips to Ouray, Colorado. Then
had to help Pete’s daughter in
Houston make an emergency
move after finding mold in her
house from previous water
damage. They will be leaving
again in November to surprise his
brother in South Carolina on his
birthday.
While on their trip in Utah, the
Seivers received a call that their
house had been vandalized and
there was glass breakage. Nelda
said she couldn’t understand why
she heard nothing from the alarm
company. Their daughter, Debbie
from Beaumont went to check it
out. Fortunately, it was a miss
communication and only the
curbside mailbox was knocked
down. Thank goodness that could
have been a trip spoiler for sure.
We can’t wait to see your photos.
Be careful you two. Enjoy and get
home safely.
BEACH PARTY
Tim and Donna Champagne
would like to invite the club to a
beach party.
When: Sunday October 23 @
2:30pm
Where: 979 Sea Spray, Crystal
Beach. (2 streets past Emerald 1)
Music provided by Time Travel
Band. Gumbo will be served. You
can bring preferred drinks and
lawn chairs.
Janice Stone located an RV park
close to the party. It is on the left
side of Hwy 87 near the
Champagne’s. It is $30 per night
and no reservations required. You
can call (409) 684-7008.
