SOUTH COAST METRO

The South Coast Metro area includes its namesake, South Coast Plaza, alongwith approximately twenty high-rise office buildings, hotels and residences.This includes the 21-story Center Tower, previously the tallest building inOrange County at 285 feet. The area also includes additional retail shopping,entertainment, and several upscale restaurants. Banc of California willrelocate its headquarters to South Coast Metro, at 3 MacArthur Place inSanta Ana, in 2016. Yokohama Tire Corporation's United States headquartersare also located in South Coast Metro, at 1 MacArthur Place, Santa Ana.Thearea around the Segerstrom Center for the Arts is called the Costa MesaTheater and Arts District. The South Coast Repertory building was expandedand renovated in 2002, with the design done by architect César Pelli. Pellialso designed the Plaza Tower, opened in 1992, and the Renee and HenrySegerstrom Concert Hall, which opened in 2006.South Coast Metro is servedby the San Diego (I-405), Costa Mesa (SR-55), and Corona Del Mar (SR-73)freeways. During rush hour, the 405-55 interchange becomes one of themost congested in the United States, with an average daily traffic volume of433,000 cars. The area encompasses the cities of Costa Mesa and parts ofSanta Ana, Newport Beach and irvine.

Future Expansion

Both the cities of Costa Mesa and Santa Ana have plans for additionaldevelopment in the South Coast Metro area, which includes over a dozenhigh-rise buildings currently planned or approved. Two high-rise residentialtowers, dubbed Skyline at MacArthur Place, were recently constructed in thenortheast corner of South Coast Metro. These 25-story high-end luxuryapartment homes are now the tallest buildings in Orange County by anumber of floors and are directly across from Pinnacle at MacArthur.
