piling mandrels for the installation of plastic sheet piling
TRANSCRIPT
We work with Clients that are seeking to:
1. Broaden the scope of their activities
2. Keep abreast of the latest developments in Plastic Piling and methods
3. Reduce maintenance costs through the substitution of timber with plastic products
4. Give the latest designs in plastic piling ago, perhaps after historically having issues with earlier designs.
5. Move away from budget plastic piling
This presentation aims to provide a summary update on the us of piling mandrels used to facilitate the installation of plastic sheet piling.

Our social media channels are typically split according to our three principle product categories, JETFilters, Plastic
Piling and Pile driving equipment.
Please feel free to follow all or just the ones that pertain to your primary interest as each typically will focus on that specific
product range.
The Hammerman Equipment
Offers a range of piling equipment for hire and sale

Side Mandrels
•Provides top and side support
•Prevents sheet buckling
• Safer than rear mandrels
• Works ahead of the pile
•Requires quite large equipment
•Heavy
•Expensive to produce
•Suit narrow range of sheets

Internal Mandrels
•Consists of two steel tubes with closed pointed toes
•Only for advanced range of piles
•Light weight minimises equipment size
•Internal backbone allow greater downcrowd
•Extends beyond pile and reduced toe friction and plugging

This video clip illustrates the
principle of the internal mandrel. In fact was the first use
of the internal mandrel with the
Environment Agency at Fradley.
This is a continuation of the Fradley contract what is good about this video is that the driven clearly is not easy, but the pile driven through some very hard bands.
Also upon extraction of the mandrel, the pile remains in
the ground. No need to have a re-drive method.
This video is taken from the installation of MultiLock plastic piling on the M1 motorway.
Installation again using an internal mandrel and EMV300
Internal mandrels work really well with leader rigs. This clip showing the installation of 11m MultiLock
Remaining Issues
The main issues that relate today are:
Selecting the right pile for the job
Getting in equipment that is powerful enough for the task
Vibrator biased
