• Jesus Calls the crowd and tells them “what goes into a man does not defile him”.

• Why did Jesus have to tell this• Mark 7:1 The Pharisees and Scribes saw some

disciples of Jesus eating bread with impure hands (without washing).

• Mark 7:5 Pharisees and Scribes asked Him “why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with impure hands

• Jesus’ reply

• Mark 7:6 “People honor me with their lips, their hearts are far away from me.

• Mark 7:8 Neglecting the commandments of God, you hold on to the traditions of men.

• Mark 7:9 You are experts at setting aside the commandments of God in order to keep your traditions.

The Heart of Man

• A Heart without God

• A Heart that cries to God

• A Heart with God

• Mark 7:21 Evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries…… envy, pride, slander and foolishness.

• Genesis 8:21 For the intend of man’s heart is evil from his youth.

• Mathew 6:21 For where your heart is there your treasure will be also.

• Psalm 14:1 The fool has said in his heart “there is no God”

A Heart that cries for God

• Psalm 139:23 & 24 Search me O God and know my heart, try me and know my anxious thoughts. And see if there is any wicked way in me and lead me in the everlasting way.

• Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart O God.

A Heart with God

• Mathew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God.

• Deut. 6:5 Love the Lord your God will all your heart….

• How can we do this?• Romans 10:9 If your confess with your

mouth and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved

God’s promise for you

And I will give them one heart and put a new spirit within

them. And I will take the heart of stone out of them and I will

give them a heart of flesh
