BOOT HILL BBQ DINNER & SIDE SHOW FEATURING ARIZONA’S SINGING COWBOY GARY SPRAGUE AND HIS HORSE DUSTY
Join us for a rootin’ tootin’ time at the Boot Hill BBQ Dinner and Side Show featuring Arizona’s Singing Cowboy, Gary Sprague, and his trusty steed Dusty. Enjoy a menu of pulled bbq pork or sliced bbq beef on a sandwich bun, cowboy baked beans, coleslaw and chocolate cake for dessert. Y’all will receive an ice cold bottle of sarsaparilla to wash it down. Parade which will begin at 9:30am. We encourage you to attend

The “One Heart Trio” band will be on hand to entertain guests
with live music and karaoke. Attendees are invited to share

LIONS FALL SWAP MEET
It’s that time of year again! Free up some space in your closets
and garage and sell your unwanted items at our semi-annual
Swap Meet. Don’t want to sell? Donate your items to the Lions
Club to sell. All money raised by this event will go toward
sending challenged individuals to Camp Tatiyee. Table rentals
are $10. Sign up in the Activity Office starting Tuesday,

COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE
Do you have large items you need to sell such as furniture,
appliances, vehicle, etc? Do you have more stuff than you can
transport? Sell your items at the Community Garage Sale. This
is ideal for those who have large items that are not permitted for
sale at the Swap Meet. Registration forms are available at the
HOA Office, Activity Office and Service Center. Return the
completed form to the Activity Office along with your $20 fee
no later than Friday, November 3rd. Fee includes advertising,
special designation for each participating home and inclusion in
map distributed to incoming shoppers. Unauthorized sales will
result in a fine. Each seller will receive a copy of the garage
sale rules and regulations upon registration.

There will be some all-new events, some familiar faces and a special surprise encore from the most requested group since their appearance back in 2015. “WHAT A NIGHT” … MAMMA MIA MEETS THE JERSEY BOYS
Join us for lunch, concert and casino action as we travel to Wild Horse Pass Casino for a full afternoon of fun. Abba Fab and December ’63 are past Sun Village favorites and they have come together for one incredible mega-concert! MEDICARE PRESENTATION
Joe Bedgood, an independent representative, will give a presentation on the changes to Medicare plans for 2018 and answer questions regarding your current plan. The Medicare open enrollment period is Oct 15th thru Dec 7th; this is when you can make changes to your coverage plan. The “all new” writing group had a fun season getting to know one another and sharing stories. The group was established for the purpose of writing down some thoughts about our lives before we forget them. Get-togethers were very informal … no classroom format, no teacher, no test, no essays … just fun! We all have stories we’d like to share and this could be the motivation you need to get them on paper. We hope to see you

It is now back to summertime until Fall arrives. We are always looking for new crafters and volunteers so that we can keep the store open as much as possible. CLUB NEWS LIONS CLUB The Lions are still dormant but will resume their regular meeting schedule in October. At that time, the Lions will meet for breakfast at TOAST Café on the first & third Tuesday of the month at 8:30AM. It is never too early to start cleaning out your closets and drawers and get ready to donate stuff to the Lions, or rent a table of your own, at our annual Fall Swap Meet scheduled for Saturday, November 4th, 2017. Mark your calendars for the Americana Dance on November 19th, the Pancake Breakfast on January 8th, and the BBQ on February 19th. Plan to be at our 4th of July potluck to be held at 4PM in the MPR. All are welcome. Please continue to recycle over the summer months. Did you know that City of Surprise’s Recycle Program brings in NOTHING financially to the city? It sends all of its recycle to the City of Glendale’s recycle station. In exchange, Surprise does not have to add to their garbage landfill. However, when you donate to the LIONS RECYCLE CENTER in the Main Parking Lot, all money raised from recycling goes for various projects in Sun Village, such as maintaining all the American flags in the Village. So, please keep recycling newspapers, paper, cardboard, phone books, aluminum cans and shredded paper in our LIONS RECYCLE CENTER. Eyeglasses and cases, hearing aids, and cellphones can also be recycled in the Service Center as well as the Recycle Center. Let’s make CASH from stuff. Soon the snowbirds will begin their migration south and things will pick up, and you can brag about surviving an Arizona summer with temps at 122! ‘Til then, play hard, stay hydrated and find shade whenever possible! Our monthly meetings are held the first Thursday of each month in the MPR at 1 p.m. November thru April.
MEN’S GOLF CLUB You can join our Men’s Club for an annual fee of $30. This membership allows you to compete with the club members on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Membership is open to all male Sun Village residents. Various tournaments are held during the year. Every club member has a handicap which allows fair play for all competitors. Joining our group is also a good way to meet new friends. All are welcome!

HORSE SHOE CLUB Come join the Horse Shoe Players at the courts between the Shuffle Board and Tennis Courts. All are welcome. Dates and times of play are Tuesdays & Thursdays at 10:00AM.
TENNIS CLUB Not much has changed since the last newsletter. The courts are still being used very early in the morning and late at night. The dry heat has gone and now a great deal of humidity has been added to the mix, but is does not keep the diehard tennis players from playing. Drop in is Monday thru Friday, 7:30am to 10:30am. PICKLEBALL Monday - Friday from 8am-2pm – organized play/ladder play. Information is available at the courts. For lessons, see signup sheet at the courts.

BILLIARD CLUB
A Sun Village Billiard Club has formed and they are anxious for new members. The billiard room has come back to life and club president, George Garrity and new Vice President Sunny Grove, invite you to join the fun. Regular play time is on Thursdays at 1PM in the Billiard Room located upstairs in the community Rec. Center. Both men and women are encouraged to participate and all levels are welcome. SAGUARO SUN STRIDERS We are a volkssport club and part of the American Volkssport Association. Our club has 20+ walks in AZ that can be done any time. We offer a few special events each year and several group walks during the winter months. Our walks are 10k and 5k and most are not difficult. You need not be a member of the club to walk with us. We usually meet in the Community Rec Center Resident Lounge, at 7pm on the first Wednesday of the month, Oct.-April.
